Why did you pick this product vs others?: My salon changed to a new product line and I just don’t like it as much as this Aveda product! Works great on short hair to give a moldable but strong hold. Best thing I like about this product specifically is it keeps your hair feeling soft and doesn’t leave that weird residue on your hair.

I have a short cut with longer bangs and fringe in front--a mod cut, shall we say. This stuff is dang good for giving your hair nice lift. it has a dry matte texture, so there's none of that gunky feel. I hestitated to spend so much on hair goop but I find its nearly invisible lifting, texturizing, and thickening qualities are worth the price. It works best applied to dry or only slightly damp hair. I like how my hair feels, as well as how it looks. You can get by on a surprisingly small amount. It has only the slightest scent, that pleasant Aveda scent that dissipates quickly. Aveda favors natural ingredients and that's a real plus. Remember ladies: just because it's marketed for guys doesn't mean we can't use it! Your guy might try to steal it--he'll love the way it provides so much lift and control while remaining exceptionally discreet--so at this price, keep it well-hidden.

I love this clay for several reasons: It's a medium hold, so my hair still moves without breaking the hold like gel does, and it's a matte surface, so my hair doesn't look constantly wet. I have very fine hair, so I only need a few dabs to get everything held in place, and it doesn't glue my hair to my head, so I still get good volume. If you have medium-to-fine hair and want something matte to do the side-part hairstyle with minimal maintenance, I highly recommend the Aveda Grooming Clay. It is kind of expensive, but also one pot lasts me several months, so it's not too bad. Your mileage may vary.

I've used this stuff for about 10 years now. One container will last months if you're smart about how much you use. It tames the stubbornest cowlicks, holds throughout the day, and doesn't give your hair a stupid shine like some of the gels out there. It also smells beautiful—Aveda sources quality ingredients and leaves out harsh chemicals. But recently the price of this product has jumped dramatically. For years it held steady at about $25, maybe even a little bit cheaper on occasion. But recently I've seen it sell anywhere from $32-$45 for a container. I don't know what that's about, but it's definitely turning me off. As loyal as I am to this grooming clay, if it's going to be that expensive then I'll take my money elsewhere and enough to spare for a meal or two.

My son really likes this clay. I don’t use it. But he does. He likes to stick his hair straight up. But I find it expensive. I ended up finding an old spice one that he likes and can get from Walmart. If you don’t mind the price, then I recommend this one because it made him pretty happy. If the price is too much check out the old spice one at Walmart.

Have used this product for almost ten years now. There is no other hair product like it. I have thick wavy hair and this holds my hair in its place with a nice loose grip. Makes it so your hair holds more naturally without the overly stiff feel and look you get with other products.

Probably the best product I've used (and I've used a lot) that claims a "matte finish", this actually does and you basically can't tell its in my hair, good hold too, one thing to mention is the smell, a lot of reviews here mention how good it smells, I personally think its ok smelling but nothing special so don't buy on that premise, it doesn't smell bad, it's just not as amazing as reviewers make out, for what it does in your hair (which is my main reason for buying), I am impressed, nice amount in the tub so should last a good amount of time, so for me, worth the money.
