Bought the item, assembled it, plugged it in and turned it on no problem. Went to use it for the first time a few days later to smoke a turkey for Thanksgiving and the heating element cracked. Edit - The manufacturer contacted me and replaced the heating element for no charge. I have since replaced the destroyed part and have found the smoker to be satisfactory. I was pleased with the speed with which the issue was remedied and with the smoker's performance following the repair. Thank you for standing by your product.

Instruction for actual use are lacking. Bottom shelf bracket for wood chips won't allow you to add chips until almost pulled all the way out and then can fall out if pulled too far resulting in chips falling out. Needs to have a flatter top because there is no place to set plates or platters. Door latches are hard to get adjusted and seems to loosen so door won't shut tight. Why have two places for meat probes and then only supply one?
