Take your time!!!
The restorer Color gave my canvas top the refresh it desperately needed. As I applied the product with a traditional paint brush, I Immediately followed the strokes with disposable foam brushes to help spread the product which seemed to help. I felt applying it with a paint brush didn’t spread evenly or easily. Not sure if it was due to the top soaking in the dye or the horsehair paintbrush just not speeding well enough and not the right brush. The bottle says there’s enough to yield a typical 4 seater car. Mine is a 4 seater however a small one. I was really cutting it close at the end with very little restorer left over. Would’ve been great if the bottles were slightly larger for the money. Do as they say. Do diligence and Tape off the body and window areas well. I used blue painters tape and newspaper. I bought the 3 step kit. The cleaner was the best I’ve used yet. Way better than the 303 top cleaner I’ve used. waterproofer was awesome too. Before and after pics shown. Even with some of the above stated I’d still buy it again, 5 stars hands down.

Works way better than all other products I've tried
Great product, easy to apply, works great, little pricey but way cheaper than replacing the top, will buy again and again, also just a small amount was needed to cover the top on my solstice.

Changed from Tan to Black on my C5 Corvette.....
I have nothing to lose, my wife didn't like the tan top and wanted to switch to black, after researching getting a new black top ($300 used and much more for new that's if I install) I looked at Protex World Convertible Soft Top Canvas Restorer Black to see if I could just use this. I had already deep cleaned the top really well so it was stain free and looking great, my wife still wanted black. I purchased one quart of Black. I did three coats of black, I let the 1st coat dry for 3 hours then applied second, that dried over night, third coat went on the next night. results speak for themselves see before and after pictures. The corvette top was very easy to work with and tape off, I loosened the top handles slide newspaper under seals and used old towels on truck portion, taped off windows and used a cheap brush (if I had to do it again I'd get a nicer brush bristles came off here and there had to pick them off) and started in the center of the top and work your way to front and sides. The first coat the top was loose (my thought was maybe being loose the fabric would soak in more color), the second and third coat I tightened as if I were to drive it. If I had to do it again I would have ordered the package dye and sealer and save $5.00, so now sometime before I get it out of storage I need to order up the sealer. I used three coats with one quart container and still have some left over. So in short, you can not see any Tan fabric at all, this is a summer car (3rd car along with a motorcycle), so the top should be down most of the time, if however I need to touch up or put another coat on I will, this will save me hundreds of dollars, just my thoughts.

Not the most satisfactory results.
I applied this product in the evening when the canvas top wasn't hot. It went on just fine and indeed the top was black. At lunch today I took a look to see the all sorts of tiny debris was attracted to it. It sat outside overnight. I used a lint roller to remove most of it but still some remains.

You need at least two bottles
I purchased one bottle to do the top on my two-door BMW and it was not enough. I was able to stretch it out to cover the entire roof, But... While the improvement was considerable, I could see splotchy patches and wear the coverage was uneven. I bought a second bottle and that even everything out. My top doesn't look quite new but still quite nice. I'll will give it a few more days to be sure it's thoroughly dry and see if a third bottle will seal the deal. The seller recommends using two bottles, by the way, and has a better price when you buy a two-pack.

Amazing product
After doing alot of research and reading reviews, I decided to give this product a try. No regrets! This product is amazing. The after pic doesnt do it justice. It is way darker in person. I followed the instructions to the letter. I applied it with a fine wood staining brush. I recommend to spend a little more money on the brush to get amazing results. I used half the bottle on my mini cooper and only applied 1 coat. I used 303 fabric protector to water proof it. My car is garaged every day so I hope this product has longevity.

Great product
I was very pleased with the Protex products. After applying the conditioner I put the water proofing on and had the finished product. It was enough to do a convertible top on a four seater. The top is 12 years old and looks new. Water beads very well after the treatment.

Restores like new.
I had a Mercedes CLK with a blue soft top, which didn't quite match the silver bodywork. So I used this product to not only restore, but to change the actual colour of the soft top fabric to black. I followed the instructions, firstly masking off the car with commercially available paint drop-sheet plastic and masking tape (well worth doing first so as to prevent dye spots on the paintwork), then using a soft paintbrush to apply the restorer. It took 3 coats to achieve the satisfactory black finish, but the result is great. I finished off by applying 2 coats of waterproofing spray agent to protect the fabric finish and to mak the sot top weatherproof. All in all, a great result.

Easily Make Your Ragtop Look Like a New Top
Wear gloves! Hands came clean using pumice soap & water- instructions regarding clean-up on bottle are 'brief'. The Convertible Soft Top Canvas Restorer in Black applied easily using a 2'' foam brush and a small tray. Applied outdoors at 12C . Clean-up while still wet was easy, required some effort (nothing major- just a vigorous rub with a clean cloth) to clean from paint once dry. Dried to an even, black finish. Excellent 'like-new' effect with no streaks or splotches- nothing at all to indicate that the top hadn't just been replaced by a new one. There is enough Restorer left to do another small (Porsche) convertible top completely again should that be necessary. Overall quite satisfied with the result which nicely undid the appearance of 'fading' caused by inappropriate water-proofing agent. Have happily discovered an 'off-label' use. If carefully applied it nicely restores the finish on leather steering wheels!

Does Exactly What it Says
Used this product on my convertible Mini One, and I have to say I was very impressed. Easy to apply - you just brush it on with a paintbrush - it's fairly idiot-proof, which is handy for someone with my skill at car maintenance. I'd bought the car secondhand a few months ago, and the soft top was always a little faded and worn. This brought it back to almost-good-as-new condition in just two coats. Some tips: 1. The instructions on the bottle warns you not to get it on the paintwork. You are 100% going to get it on the paintwork! The liquid has the consistency of inky water, so even the slightest breeze will cause it to splash. But don't panic, just keep a damp cloth handy as you apply and wipe off spillages . (It doesn't seem to damage the paintwork, the smaller splashes in particular are just much harder to remove once they're dry). 2. You probably need more product than you think. The material on mine drank it up and I easily used two whole bottles on not quite two coats for a small convertible. 3. Each coat took about 40 minutes. The ideal day to do it would be overcast with little chance of rain, because heavy sun might cause the dye to dry unevenly. However, it dries very fast, so I found it was OK to put the cover back on about an hour after I finished. All in all, a bit of patience and the top looks good as new!
