It does condition brushes. You have to leave it on the brush for at least 30 mins to condition and then rinse off. You don’t need to do this every time you clean your brushes, maybe once every 4-6 weeks

just opened my first container, oil painted today, cleaned brushes with mineral spirits, rubbed the brushes into container, now what to do?

After cleaning brushes with mineral spirits wet brushes with warm water then swirl brushes in container of cleaner, then lather with fingers, then rinse with warm water. Doing this after each use will help keep brushes soft. Great product
