MUCH better than other headlamps I’d tried
I wasn’t able to appreciate THIS headlamp until I’d tried other cheaper ones – the type with the horizontal band of LEDs that go full width across your forehead. That kind of headlamp always felt uncomfortable, and needed to be re-centered every time I put it on. I needed a headlamp to walk my dog late at night, to alert cars and to be able to see any coyotes, bobcats, etc. in my vicinity..Other than its band discomfort, that horizontal type couldn’t be directed downward to the sidewalk or road, or simply to avoid blinding someone coming toward me. The last thing I didn’t like about that style was the lack of intuitiveness about the control buttons. So, I did a lot of research, and came up with the style that I am reviewing. I’ve used it now for several week, and am very pleased. It’s very easy to put on, take off, and adjust to center because of the simplicity of its thin and one-button adjustable paracord. It has the same wide beam spread without needing a full width LED array. The best thing for me is that the lamp can swivel downward to any desired degree, making it easy to avoid blinding people, to see the ground in close proximity when needed, etc. It’s so lightweight and innocuous to wear that it’s almost like wearing NO head apparatus at all. I haven’t yet needed to recharge it, and I’ve used it nightly for weeks. I got the yellow version which comes with black buttons that are very easy to find without having to hunt for them. I also like that there’s no overt branding; I like subtle. Although I haven’t used the solid or flashing red light feature, i’ve tried it just to see the effect, and would imagine it useful in illuminating surroundings while wanting to be more discreet. Oh, and this thing is amazingly lightweight. It’s just a great design, and works as well as promised.

Great backpacking headlamp
Super light headlamp for backpackers. The battery life is very good and has lasted 3 day camping trips without charging. There is a meter on the top side which makes it for convenient way to check for charge. It did take a little getting used to all of the functions, but after the first night of messing around with all of the modes, you quickly get the hang of it. I mainly used the wide beam option for cooking and hanging around the campsite. The light is bright, but most importantly it is wide. The string straps adjust easily and work better than the traditional headband. Super value for the money.

Great quality. Easy to carry with you.
This LED headlamp has become an indispensable tool in my everyday carry arsenal, and for good reason. With its versatile functionality and compact design, it's proven itself to be a reliable companion in various situations, from outdoor adventures to everyday tasks. One of the standout features of this headlamp is its multiple settings, which allow for customizable combinations of light output to suit different needs. Whether I'm navigating a dark trail or working on a project in low-light conditions, I can easily adjust the brightness and beam type to illuminate my surroundings with precision. What's more, the headlamp packs away easily, making it a convenient addition to my EDC (everyday carry) kit. Its lightweight and compact form factor ensure that it takes up minimal space, yet it delivers maximum utility when needed. Whether stashed in a backpack or kept in my glove compartment, I always have it within reach for any unexpected situation that may arise. One surprising use I've discovered for this headlamp is during my dog's ear cleaning routine. Warranty and Lumens
Warranty - I have purchased several nitecore headlamps over the last several years. I use them for hiking, running, hunting, fishing, red light night time reading, etc... All the products I have purchased are great. Recently I found that the red light button on the Nitecoe NU25 broke under the rubber gasket. I contacted Nitecore to see if there was a way I could fix it. They sent me a new headlamp. These lights are great and ultra light which is why I bought them, they are great for putting out max. lumens with the red light option and doing so with minimal weight when fastpacking.

Excited by the Nitecore NU25 light.
This headlamp did an incredible job during my recent AT walk. Light weight and simple to use, while being reliable. The headlamp's charge made it throughout the week long heat and humidity with no issues. Headlamp strap is simple but comfortable. I’ll be buying more of these for my Alaska excursions.

Great headlamp for backpacking.
I bought this to go in my backpacking gear. It's super light, and very bright. The SOS function could be useful in case of a backcountry emergency.

Bright, holds a charge
I’ve had this for nearly two years and use it regularly (camping, traveling, nighttime visits to the chicken coop). Still works as well as on day one. It only needs charging every 2-3 months unless I’m heading out camping.

Bright, clear, lightweight light
Great lightweight light. I use these for traditional uses, as well as, sewing and embroidery while on campouts or bus trips with children’s’ organizations like Boy Scouts church, and marching band. This is great adjustability and brightness. It provides clear, bright light for detail work when needed!

Does the job for camping
I've been using it for camping so far and I liked it, the "controls/buttons" might not be the most intuitive but it works : it's very lightweight and the "head/light" direction is adjustable so you can adjust it like you want, depending on what you do.

Lightweight and with plenty of functionality. What's not to like?
I've had this headlamp for about a month now. It's a solid little piece of gear - I think the battery claims listed on Nitecore's website might be a bit generous; 40 minutes seems to be the runtime at the highest setting. It's also worth noting that due to overheating the headlamp will not remain at its 400 lumen mode - it'll stay there for about a minute before slowly reducing its output. It's still plenty bright - and realistically you'll be using either flood or spotlights interchangeably, as there's not much reason to have them both on at the same time. As far as the red light goes - it's actually a bit too bright in my opinion. It's actually bright enough to hike by on a moonless night - not quickly, and I wouldn't trust it in difficult terrain, but on a flat trail you could absolutely hike using the red light. Overall I'm quite satisfied with this headlamp. It's lightweight, functional (even has an SOS strobe built in, though I hope I'll never use that), and contrary to what many other folks claim has quiteintuitive controls for being a two-button device.

Great light!
Powerful, lightweight, comfortable, and easy to work with once you get the hang of the buttons and how they work. I’ve used it mainly as hands-free lighting for when I’m cleaning small electronics and doing detailed work and don’t have easy access to a table with dedicated task lighting. Would I have preferred it a bit cheaper? Yes. But I’m sure it will pay off in the long run, and I’m actually planning on purchasing another one.
