We live off the grid and use both solar and generators for our many electrical needs, as well as propane for heat, fridge, and hot water. So dependable generators are a must. This one has all the bells, whistles, and safety options available. We wanted remote stop and start on this one, and that meant buying a duel fuel option as well. The pros of having a propane back-up is that propane doesn't go bad during storage. The cons of using propane is the enormous consumption and reduced power; it is rated at 20 pounds of propane should last nine hours at half-load. That would get very expensive, very quick. Two gallons of gasoline will give you the same runtime, and do it at approximately ¼ the cost! (But again, gasoline will go bad in storage). The generator actually runs longer on gasoline than the manufacturer states. By far the remote start and stop are truly a blessing, we are in our 60s and having to go out in inclement weather to start or stop the generator is always an adventure and a slip and fall risk going up and down steps. The remote stop function will save you a lot more gas than you might suspect. This series of generators need consistent maintenance for maximum performance. Regular oil level checks and appropriate oil changes — we recommend a full synthetic 5W-30 —, regular air filter cleaning or replacement, and regular spark plug cleaning and adjustment or replacement. We use the NGK sparkplugs and they can be found for approximately $3.50 each if you search Amazon for a multi-pack. Good luck and enjoy!

We were in need of a more powerful generator for our newly purchased off grid cabin. We were of course told to go with Honda for quiet operations and efficiencies, but after purchasing the cabin, we only had a limited amount of funds available. Needed to make our investment really pay off. Boy did it ever! After some research, we began to understand that WEN is a very reputable company in this space. After frankly, after seeing a YouTube video showing how this generator can be used for whole house backup, we were sold! So first things first, since we were using this for off grid power through a fully code compliant panel, you will want to UNBOND this generator, placing it into floating neutral. A very easy process and something we learned along the way. We also love the idea of dual fuel options. We will eventually be installing larger, more powerful solar solutions, but for now, needed a way to keep cabin alive. We do have a gas caddy and adequate supply, but that does add up in terms of cost over the weekends. However, using a 40lb propane tank at around $15.00 filled for two (2) full weekends, that was outstanding. Very efficient, and we are capable of running in Eco Mode during the evening and early morning hours. Speaking of Eco Mode, this genny is very quiet. Yes, you do hear it throughout the cabin but move about 100 yards away and the sound fades almost all away. Great for hunting and general game watching activities. Also has no issues running our water pump, which was the main reason we needed to more powerful device when the weather is colder and does not run as efficiently in terms of power production. Yes, this item is heavy. Our use is essentially in a stationary position only moving in and out of the crawl space below the cabin. However, you can easily use this for portable operations with stronger individuals and certainly an able-bodied couple. All in all, extremely satisfied with this product and glad we took the risk of purchasing this brand. Just goes to show, do your research and don't be afraid to make decisions based upon your needs. Be wary of influencers or paid shives who don't give you the facts. This is an awesome device, and I would certainly not only recommend it, but also purchase it again! BTW, the only reason we keep pushing solar is not only "free" energy, but also the peace and quiet. But when working and living off grid, you have to do what you have to do given different situations.

Love this generator. I have had it for a while now and it works very well. It is a very quiet running generator. Runs all my RV toy hauler has and never bogs down. I have not used the propane part yet as the gas runs all night long on a full tank. Easy to start too.

It is a big unit but, that's what I wanted. Oil fill is easy access. The battery is a pain to remove so be patient it will come out. Runs smooth and it is pretty quiet for a big generator at that price point. I have ran it but not camping yet...season is pretty much over so I will winterize her and pick up where I left off in the spring. Im happy with my purchase

Let me start with the fact that I am a 60-year-old woman that lives alone with no one with mechanical or electrical knowledge to come help me. I live in the midwest where we have power outages due to storms frequently. The last power outage, I was lucky. Everyone around me lost power and a lot of food (and a lot of money due to that food). I did not. My power never went out, but based on what was happening all around me, I decided to take a chance and buy an inverter generator strictly to power my deep freeze and my refrigerator. I bought the "WEN DF452IX 4500W Dual Fuel Inverter Generator. " I intentionally bought the one with all the bells and whistles since I know nothing about these, or how to use one SAFELY. I wanted to make sure that it had every safety mechanism available, which it does, as well as a remote start in the form of a key fob. I was extremely nervous about getting this thing up and running since I don't know a whole lot about engines, oil, batteries, but I did it. The only faux pas I had, was after I had put oil in it and did everything else the manual said, it would not start. I knew it was not getting power from the battery because no lights were coming on. I called the company and I told the woman I was sure it was the battery to which she thought so too based on what I was telling her. She told me exactly how to remedy the situation. The battery is shipped inside of the unit with two safety mechanisms on them so they don't accidentally connect, sparks fly....you get my drift. I did not realize this because even at looking at the two separate wires, they appeared to be connected to me. Don't be fooled, even by looking at it if you have an untrained eye like mine, you may think the battery is hooked up, it is not. After taking off the battery safety connectors and then hooking the two ends together, my generator fired right up. I have to admit, I was kind of proud of myself. I am about 6 hours into my 8-hour break in. I have not plugged anything into it yet, but I am getting ready to. I will say this, this unit is extremely heavy at 100 lbs. The handle tucks under the front of and it helps when relocating it. So far, the only issue I have is that it could have been built with bigger wheels on the back making it much easier to move around, and some wheels on the front where there are none. Don't let it intimidate you. I'm sure most men won't, but if you're an older single woman like myself with no one to really help you, WEN'S customer service has been absolutely incredible. I cannot say enough good things about them. They gave me a lot of useful tips and information. I could have bought a different unit that had more power and less bells and whistles, but for someone like me who needs those bells and whistles to know what is going on with the unit, I have no regrets. And by the way, it's very quiet. My neighbor has an open cage generator that is extremely loud. My unit is nowhere near as loud as his. Now I also realize that when the power's out and nobody has anything running, you're going to hear any noises. But I can tell you that I can BARELY hear this in the front of my house, and when it's on eco-mode, you really can't hear it in the front of the house at all. So far I have absolutely no regrets. After the 8-hour period I have to drain the oil and put new oil in it. Again, as an older woman who's never had to do this stuff for herself, I'm doing it alone. Don't let this intimidate you ladies, if I can do it, you can do it. And by the way... again, customer service has been exceptional and has helped me greatly when I needed it walking me through things.
