Book arrived warped
Great book, love it as a gift for a 12 year old. Recipes are adult enough to be interesting, instructions are clear enough to be easy to follow and images are good. However, the book arrived with warped pages, even though I paid full price!!! I could have returned it, but am leaving for Mexico in 2 days and won’t get a replacement in time. Amazon offered me a paltry 20% refund. Not impressed at all. Obviously quality control isn’t important to them. Recommend the book, but not from Amazon.

Parenting support disguised as a cookbook
Bought this as a gift for someone else’s kids (13 and 15) with the noble strategic objective of easing a bit of cooking pressure off Mum — and it’s worked brilliantly. The recipes are straightforward, clearly written, and genuinely easy to follow, which means they can actually cook independently rather than just supervise chaos in the kitchen. Instructions are simple without being patronising, and the dishes are appealing enough that they want to try them, which is half the battle. It strikes a nice balance between teaching real cooking skills and keeping things fun and achievable. Practical, engaging, and quietly helpful for the whole household. A great gift if you’d like to encourage young cooks and give parents a well-earned break from being the default chef.

Good
We’ve used this cookbook a few times now and overall it has been a nice addition to the kitchen. The layout is very clear, the recipes are simple to follow, and the pictures are bright and engaging, which makes it especially appealing for young children. So far we’ve baked cookies and brownies from it, and both turned out really well. My daughter enjoyed being part of the process, and I think the way the instructions are written makes it easy for kids to join in without getting overwhelmed. It’s not the most comprehensive cookbook — there are more detailed ones out there — but for introducing children to baking and getting them excited about helping in the kitchen, it works really well. The quality of the book is good, the photos are high resolution, and the recipes feel accessible. If you’re looking for a first cookbook to get kids involved, this is a solid choice.

Fun, Beginner-Friendly Cookbook That Makes Cooking Easy and Exciting for Kids and Teens
The Complete Cookbook for Young Chefs: 100+ Recipes that You’ll Love to Cook and Eat is honestly a really good starter cookbook if you’re trying to get kids or beginners comfortable in the kitchen. The recipes are written in a super clear, step-by-step way, so it doesn’t feel confusing or overwhelming. It has a nice mix of recipes too—breakfast, snacks, meals, and desserts—so there’s a little bit of everything. Most of the ingredients are basic and easy to find, which makes it way more practical instead of complicated. What I like most is that it doesn’t just throw recipes at you, it actually teaches basic kitchen skills along the way like measuring, mixing, and safe cooking habits. Overall, it’s a really solid beginner cookbook that makes cooking feel fun instead of stressful, and it’s perfect for kids or anyone just learning their way around the kitchen.
