Worth considering
The anchor is very impressive. I wasn't sure what to expect but it is weighty and solid. The plugs required a 16mm drill and went straight in (without falling apart). The only fly in the ointment was the ball bearings. They are best applied with tape on top to hold them in place before being struck by a hammer. Even so, one shot across the garage never to be seen again. I emailed the seller and without quibble was sent two replacements, first class post. All that a wall anchor (chain/padlock) will ever do is slow down someone criminally minded. I clearly don't want to test the anchor's strength in anger, but I do think it's worth the price and is well made. The reality is that if someone wants what is attached to the anchor they'll get it. But I feel that they'll have a tough time achieving their goal. I also would like to thank the seller for their attention and service.

Simple solution, if expensive for what it is - fitting went well too.
Basic kit, but works fine. The claim of toughened steel plate is nonsense, as I could drill and file this steel easily - quite soft metal actually. But.....does the job just fine - unless you are trying to protect a REALLY expensive bike and you are away for few weeks, then the metal could be cut through. Bolts are fine too - fitting guide below: - Ensure wall fabric is in good condition - if not repair or use a resin anchor system instead. - Mark out and pilot-drill using an 8mm drill. Mark drill bit with tape to +10mm longer than the bolt. - Then use a drill-bit 2mm larger than the anchor diameter. Also mark drill-bit to +10mm longer than the bolt. - Blow out the dust in each hole - use a drinking straw (find at your nearest burger restaurant :-) ) - Lube the bolt thread AND on all sliding contact parts with grease. - Fit into holes and tighten well....stick ball bearings into hex socket using BlueTak or glue. - Use one careful heavy blow with a lump hammer. - Sorted!

Very robust but you kinda have to be handy as mine came with no instructions.
This is quite a heavy and strong looking unit, pretty well finished too. But you do have to be a pretty competent handyman to install it. I had read that the bolts weren't up to the job in some of the reviews but the ones that came with mine were pretty heavy duty and did the job very well indeed. If the hole that you've drilled is not big enough and you try to hammer the bolts in anyway then you will cause damage to them as hammering them in with force (ie. a lump hammer) is not how they are intended to be fitted. Firstly, if you're intending fixing this to concrete, stone, paving slab etc. you will need a mains hammer drill as a cordless one will probably not spin fast (or hard) enough. You will also need a couple of masonry drill bits. I used a 10mm bit and a slightly larger one that I had in my box (possibly 14mm or 15mm) and also an 6mm allen key/driver. Firstly I drilled 10mm holes then used my larger masonry bit which was still a bit too small for the job but I managed to make the hole larger by jiggling the bit around in the hole until the security bolt sleeves fitted. Like I said you do need to be quite competent as a handyman as you never know what problems you might run into... The bolts were slightly deeper than the paving slab that I was drilling into so when I turned the bolt it just continued to spin without tightening. This meant that I had to pull the bolt (and sleeve) back up the hole and then slowly tighten slightly, tap it back in, tighten slightly, tap it in... I had to do this repeatedly until there was about and a centimetre or so above the slab level before finally driving the bolt sleeve home (flush with the slab) before removing the bolt, placing the anchor over the hole and tightening the bolt. (x2) The bolt needs an 6mm allen key or allen head driver to tighten. I used a long allen key which I tightened up fully hand tight but also used a large hammer (along with the allen key) to drive the bolt home even tighter and I feel that I could have even used a bit more effort which just goes to show how strong these bolts (and nuts) actually are. I could have used a strong hollow tube to extend the length of my allen key handle to increase the leverage but I didn't have one handy at the time. The anchor seems strong and secure and using it with my three heavy duty bike cable locks will hopefully deter any one from pinching my bike thinking that trying to pinch it would simply be too much effort.

Secure
Had some security issues with my motorbike but this has sorted the problem out. Easily installed into a brick wall and using a thick oxford chain it feels incredibly secure. I would recommend to anyone who's looking for a good anchor point for their bike.

Great item as described
As others said, this item is great but it doesn’t come with instructions and it should. I’m not super handy - I do basic DIY (shelves, etc.). This was quite simple thanks to the reviewers on here. For those who need instructions this is what I did. 1. Drill 10mm, 14mm and 16mm hole with large corded hammer drill. Every time I drilled I checked the fit and I needed the 16mm in the end (like mentioned here). 2. Unscrewed the fixings, checking you don’t lose the balls (I had to find them). 3. Put the open fixings into the wall (no screws inside). Tap gentle with a hammer as they can bend if too hard. 4. Aligned the wall mount to the holes and screwed in to the wall into the fixings. 5. Tapped the ball bearings into the screws (I didn’t need tape, but a good idea). 6. Fit bike and pray no-one has an angle grinder and steals my bike.
