JBV-A10U 5.5-Cup Micom Rice Cooker, with Tacook Food Steamer Tray

OH MY! I have never been a gifted person who could cook rice that would come out consistently good. Sometimes it would be great, but most of the time my rice was mushy or not cooked all the way! One of my Korean friends suggested--NO--she told me she would never make rice in anything other than a Tiger Rice Cooker! Best advice I have ever taken! This little unit makes cooking rice so easy and effortless. My rice is consistently good all the time. Well, when I first got it I used warm water to rinse the rice and to put in the cooking pot--Do Not Do that! That was the only time I made bad rice in this Tiger Rice Cooker. It came out mushy, like oatmeal. Yuck! There are a ton of videos on YouTube that will take you through the steps of cooking in this wonderful rice cooker, if you can't understand the directions. The controls are easy to use and the "Keep Warm" feature is a life saver! Do not fear using the "Keep Warm" feature, I have never burned my rice--ever! The only draw back, is not really knowing how long I have left on the cook time, as there is no timer visible just a ready button that lights up. That mainly comes from my family being impatient and ready for dinner. This is not a deal breaker, I just start the rice first and then cook dinner. The cooker itself is durable. The cooking pot is scratch resistant but have never--ever used a metal spoon or anything with it. Cleaning is super easy, wipe down with a damp cloth and put it away. Cooking rice has never been easier! The Tiger Rice Cooker is so easy and flawless to use, my 26 year old single son asked for one so that he can cook his own rice at home! Best kitchen appliance purchase ever!

Japanese rice cooker. The tiger is the best thing I ever invested in in my entire life. It’s simplifies everything, especially if you are a person who lives alone, and this is the best option because it cooks the Japanese rice perfectly, and it has a tray in there to steam your vegetables. Use the synchronizing function to cook your rice and steam your vegetables all at the same time and your dinner is done within 20 minutes.

This does indeed make better rice than doing it on the stovetop and I was very close to giving it 5 stars. The rice came out perfect the first time. It takes a bit over 30 minutes for fluffy perfectly cooked white rice. It is a less expensive appliance than some of the fuzzy logic rice cookers and is made in China. Do note that the inner pot is as advertised: coated with some type of non-stick that must be handled gently. That is probably the weak point of the whole appliance. It also has a pressure valve inside at the top which needs rinsed out after use. The lid does not detach and must be wiped clean after use. The appliance emits significant steam and should not be used under a cabinet. It did squirt some liquid out during cycling but this was easily wiped off. I have not tried the little steamer tray but hope to us it for scallops or salmon and vegetables in the future. The little recipe book is nicely illustrated but nearly useless for me. I live rurally in the USA and most of the ingredients are "available at your local Asian market". Well, probably the nearest one for me would be a 4 to 6 hour journey one way. The recipes do look tempting and healthy. I mainly wanted a cooker sized adequately for 2 people that had both brown and white rice settings. This fills the bill. I note that according to the directions in order to use the steamer tray (to allow room) you cannot do a full pot of rice. This is not a problem for the 2 of us. There is no timer on this appliance so you have to be there to start it manually. The upside of this is that I doubt there is a battery in the appliance. Most of the other fuzzy logic cookers have a battery to run the timer. This battery can only be replaced by returning the entire appliance to the manufacturer. (Talk about planned obsolescence!). As this cooker has no timer, we won't have to worry about that. This appliance does not beep when done but does switch to keep warm automatically after a white rice setting. Also a light on the front indicates when it has switched to keep warm. This pot has a slow cook setting for things like stews or soups. This is not a slow cooker in the standard American sense as it only cooks for 2 hours according to the directions. I have not tried this setting yet. The rice you get from this will spoil you for other methods of cooking rice. The last star was omitted because of the non-stick coated pan that seems to need VERY careful handling and the lid which is not removable making cleaning a bit problematic. I would whole heartedly recommend this to those wanting a great tasting rice at lesser expense than some other models of Asian rice cookers.

I absolutely LOVE this rice cooker! I needed a new rice cooker for under $100, and this delivered beyond my expectations. It cooks rice so well and is so easy to clean (so long as you follow the cleaning instructions). I use sushi rice, and it comes out so fluffy and moist! It takes 30-40 minutes, which is better than other rice cookers that can take 1 hour. This rice cooker also keeps the rice warm for a good period of time. You’re not supposed to keep it warm for more than a day, but I kept it for 3 days, and it was STILL good. The synchro-cooking feature is also my favourite as well as the accompanying cookbook. I love that they give you a cookbook! It’s so convenient, being able to cook rice and a meal at the same time. I also got to learn how to make Japanese dishes with this feature, and it was so much fun! They require minimal ingredients, so they were very easy and simple to make. The cookbook is limited, but it was a nice doorway to Japanese cuisine. This rice cooker makes great quality rice, warms rice for up to 3 days, is so easy to clean, has an awesome synchro-cooking feature & cookbook that teaches you how to make Japanese dishes, AND it’s all for $75. It’s so versatile, and I love the handle it has that helps me move it across the kitchen. This is the best rice cooker I’ve ever owned.

Long lasting

I've been using the TIGER JBV-A10U 5.5-Cup (Uncooked) Micom Rice Cooker with Food Steamer Basket for almost 3 years now, and it has been an excellent addition to my kitchen. Had to replace my gf's (Japanese) Hitachi with this similar looking one. All in all, I'm happy with the purchase. One thing I do prefer from the Hitachi was that it had measuring options for White Rice, Jasmin, Brown, and Porridge. This one just has Plain and Brown... which raises the question of what type is Basmati, what is Okome, etc. Word of caution, it uses a type A plug, not the British type G, but I was already aware of it.

A panela é ótima,faz arroz perfeito! Muito prática de usar ! Seu design além de bonito e leve e fácil de guardar nos armários de cozinha, principalmente para quem mora em Apt! Já tive várias panelas elétricas ,mas está panela Tiger superou todas em qualidade,leveza e design! Sem contar que prepara o arroz com qualidade superior as outras panelas!

Es increíble lo bien que puede cocer alimentos este producto, principalmente arroz y verduras pero las proteínas como pollo o pescado quedan muy bien. La máquina se detiene por sí sola en cuanto el producto ha quedado listo. Es importante decir que la calidad del arroz depende del mismo tipo de arroz. Si bien el manual te da una idea, hay que hacer pruebas para añadir o quitar agua según el arroz que se consigue localmente. Por otro lado, he notado que en el caso del lomo de atún, es importante retirarlo de la charola a la mitad del tiempo que el resto de los productos. Nuevamente es un tema de ir usando el equipo y conocerlo

Super happy with this rice cooker, first time use was a perfect success. Was debating on getting the JBV-S, but decided on this one since the JBV-S would one day need a battery replacement once the lithium battery dies... or so I read in the manuel on the TIGER website online. Overall, this rice cooker (JBV-A10U 5.5 cup) is awesome for the price and very simple to use; measured 2 cups with the provided measuring cup, rinsed the short-grain rice till the water was clear, filled the pot with water to exactly the "2" mark for [Plain] rice, dry off any water on the outside of the pot, insert pot in rice cooker, and press the [Plain] rice button. It took about 25 mins to cook and then it switched to keep warm. The rice tasted so great! Some tips I found online to keep the inner pot intact over many years and from peeling is to wash the rice in a separate bowl and then transfer it into the rice cooker pot... not sure if this is necessary but perhaps it will help. Note, the only thing that is strange is that the inside of the lid had a small 2.5cm scratch, but it did not affect the rice cookers performance. Delivery: it was estimated to take five - six days for delivery and I was so excited that it arrived early; it only took two days! If you are wondering, because I once did, I was worried that the steamer would spew out water from the pressure control cap since there were images of this happening in some of the reviews, well it didn't, and I will add it to the review if it ever does it in the future. It's so simple to use, rice tastes wonderful. Great quality rice cooker.

Me encanta. Hace el arroz perfecto SIEMPRE. Cuando termina solita se pone en modo de mantenerlo caliente. Puedes hacer bastante arroz o solo una taza. Muy práctica, debo confesar que también he preparado lentejas (SIN REMOJARLAS!) y estuvieron listas en una hora solo necesitan más agua que el arroz. Creo que el tamaño es bueno para una familia de 4 personas, cuando menos es suficiente para nosotros. La usamos prácticamente todos los días. Buena calidad y fácil de usar.
