Installation is quite demanding! It requires not only soldering equipment and skills, but also a molten solder snap-vacuum removal tool. I ended up discarding the Boss sound device and sending the battery back. But the item itself - if you can manage it - is precisely what is needed when the battery fails.

The battery itself looked nice and the build quality looked good. However, it did not work properly. Initially, the speaker worked intermittently. While not working, the speaker showed a steady yellow light, even without being plugged in. Charging never worked. Over a few days, the battery depleted and the speaker did not work anymore. In addition, soldering is very challenging, especially the ground line. It simply refused to melt, for whatever reasons. I would highly suggest buying a battery that comes with a PCB board.

This battery is a good replacement and seems to be of very high quality. I had trouble desoldering the wires from the power board. Maybe my soldering iron was not hot enough. So to not risk damaging the power board, I cut the wires to the old battery and spliced in to the wires from the new battery. I used shrink wrap to insulate the wires. My soundlink mini 2 works great now. Like new!!!

I saw that someone commented that the soldering was tough. I figured, I was an instrument tech many years ago and had all the tools. But beware, this is extremely challenging. I failed and then threw away the battery and the speaker. The part looked good and shipped properly. But since, it didn't fire up when I completed, I don't know the quality level.

This battery works great. Requires greater than average soldering skills to install.
