Does the job well
Does the job well, as long as you manage your expectations about picture quality over RF. It beats the quality of the internal SKY box version you used to get, and can be used to replace that functionality if you move to a newer box without an aerial socket, or to freesat, as I did. Oh, don't lose the instructions if you want to know what the DIP switches on the bottom do (for instance, if you want to retune to a different channel)

If your new Sky/Freesat box doesnt have RF out, this box is the answer.
Purchased this to enable viewing of a freesat box on a second TV. The trend with each new revision of sky/freesat boxes is to drop the RF outlet, as everything is moving HD. This box restores that functionality for those that still wish to use it. With the trend now being for HD and HDMI connections, an RF signal can no longer deliver the picture quality we've become used to from HDMI. However for those that just want a basic picture on a second TV, then utilising the existing RF coax cables & connections distributed around the house is still a viable option. If you find yourself moving to a newer Sky HD box, or a new model freesat box in an effort to free yourself from monthly subscriptions, then you may find that the new box no longer has the RF out which you used to send to other TV's around the home. This unit takes a scart connection and outputs an RF signal (on a channel of your choosing depending on how you set the dip switches on the back), it will also send out power forany magic/digi eyes you have on second TV boxes, and can relay those ir signals back to the units connected to this device by way of the ir attachments (they are the little earphone circle looking bits in the picture). If your new box doesn't have a scart output and instead has the traditional red, white and yellow phono connections, then you will need a phono to scart cable or connection. These are relatively cheap and you may even have one lying around from a child's old games console. The unit also allows for an RF in, so you can combine a traditional TV aerial signal if you wish. The unit is fairly compact, so can be hidden away behind another box or piece of furniture, though the IR extension connections aren't overly long so you need to consider the placement of these. Obviously it introduces the need for more cables and an additional power supply, so it certainly isn't as tidy as the built in solution in older sky/freesat boxes. However, if all you want is a basic RF quality picture on a second TV and you find yourself with the choice of either paying the monthly subscription for something like SkyQ or the very expensive HDMI multiroom distribution solutions, then this device gets you out of that hole. Pros: Quick and easy to set up ability to customise RF channel from dip switches works flawlessly with other labgear items such as distribution amp and digi eyes Cons: IR repeater cables could be longer phono to scart adapter could have been included for very little extra

Unit failed after 18 months
Great little product, worked well for 18 months then would randomly snowstorm until you powered it off/on. Out of necessity had to buy a replacement, lets hope it lasts longer this time.

Good ‘but’.....
This product is very good. It works with existing magic eyes and enables you to transmit TV around the house. However, this is a replacement. The first box lasted about 18 months and then the remote repeater stopped working, transmitting a false signal which interfered with the remote control signals of the two STBs that the IR transmitters were connected to. Other reviewers have indicated ‘good product but’. I bought a replacement as I didn’t want to completely rewrite everything. If this one only lasts 18 months I’ll use a different solution next time.

bought mine in Oct 2019 - still works ok..
if you have problem with noise etc, try changing the RF channel - a search with images can usually find a pdf with instructions..

Easy option for Sky box with no RF output
Excellent product and picture and so easy to set up. The perfect choice if your Sky box has no RF output Used with a Labgear LD204 4 way distribution amplifier wilt IR link and a Labgear Magic Eye. I now have perfect digital TV and Sky (only one channel at a time) in all my rooms and can control my Sky box and two other devices remotely. I went for the compete Labgear set up rather than cheaper versions and don't regret it one bit. One down side the Blue LED on the amplifier is VERY bright so I put a piece of tape over it to dim it down. A great set up highly recommended

Bought to replace an internittent Triax Trilink modulator but found ...
Bought to replace an internittent Triax Trilink modulator but found the quality of the modulated signal to be inferior by comparison. I was surprised based on the existing feedback but there you go. will have to fork out that bit more for Triax again. TRIAX TRI-LINK Kit Control Sky, Freesat, Freeview around the home.

Excelent Product
After looking for an RF converter, all reviews and my requirements lead me to this one, problem was that the latest Humax freesat box does not have a scart connection. for a secondary connection after the HDMI, it only had the yellow video out and the white and red, left and right audio. I thought id take a chance and connect the video and audio via leads from the sat box, into a video to scart block converter plug it in and see if it would work. Scanned the frequencies and it worked a treat, including the remote control side of things, whilst the picture isn't 1080 quality, it is clear enough as any other standard definition picture.
