Zinsser 286258 Bullseye 1-2-3 All Surface Primer Quart Gray

This product seems to have the ability to escape from captivity never to be seen again.Other Zinsser paints the same.Maybe they are colonizing some far flung Pacific Atoll ?

Paint is very thick and doesn't spread easily but it provides a good coat to seal your project

I used this primer on a dresser for 2 reasons: it has a glossy finish and it was part wood and part laminate/plywood. I did not want to sand laminate because it can release toxic chemicals.Method: I cleaned the entire dresser really well with a homemade vinegar and water solution. I dried it and lightly sanded the wood components. Then I applied 2-3 coats of primer to every surface. It adhered well to all of the surfaces. The laminate required 3 coats for ideal coverage and the wood parts required only 2 coats. I really like the color of the gray primer. It was just a bit lighter than the chalk paint I used (Wise Owl smoky quartz). I also like that it blocks bleed through of wood. On previous pieces that I didn't use primer, I had to use shellac to prevent the tannins from coming through the paint. Next, I added 2 coats of chalk paint. Lastly, I sealed the piece with 3 coats of Miniwax polycrylic. It looks great.Side note: although this is low VOC, it does have a smell during application (which goes aways when dry) and it still contains chemicals so make sure you have good ventilation (either go outdoors or open windows) and wear a mask.

Great coverage. I have areas of white stain from vinegar, as well as some black stains from something. Scrubbed cement and prepped surface. I have 2 basement windows. No strong paint fumes.

I used this on a large drywall patch then painted over it. It was seamless. Perfect patch without any shine through or dullness.

By the photo, I wanted to give you an idea of size, arrived with protective tape over the top, and a dent in the can on the right side.This looks like a good primer so far but I can’t speak for longevity. I used it for galvanized steel garden beds under paint.It says that there is no prep necessary so the ease of use is great.
