I work the overnight shift, so it is hard for my body to wake up since it is dark outside when I get up for the 'day.' I've been having some trouble sleeping (it is difficult going to bed at Noon) and a sleep specialist, when I asked about melatonin supplements, said that the best way to use melatonin is to produce it yourself naturally - by waking up and doing a heart-pumping activity under bright lighting. For a lot of 'day' people that might mean waking up and taking a walk or going for a jog in the sunshine, but I can't do that on my sleep schedule. So I bought this lamp and placed it in my dining room next to my walking pad. It is VERY bright on the highest setting, and pleasantly soothing on the lowest setting. Unlit, it looks sort of cheap but once it is lit: it is beautiful! I appreciate the minimalistic design, too. It is cold and snowy right now where I live, and has been for four months now. I didn't think a lack of sunlight would be so impactful on a person (especially one who works overnight and doesn't see the sun much anyhow) but we had a couple of sunny days recently and I felt so alive. Light really does help one's mood.

It works well and I like how it looks. The remote, however, is trash. It only works when it feels like it and it uses a coin battery which I don't exactly keep laying around.
