Will this plant survive in the winter?

Purple shamrock cold resistance is very good, the minimum tolerance of -18° C low temperature, can be in most areas of the outdoor winter. But some areas of winter temperatures below -18 ° C, the plant may also be frostbite.Indoor breeding is recommended in winter.

Which way do you put them in the soil and how deep?

Just cover the seeds with dirt. Choose a position with full sun to light shade, and position tubers approximately 3-4 inches apart and at a depth of 1-1½ inches. Also suitable for indoor containers, it should be offered moderate water during periods of active growth. They are very easy to grow and require almost no care.

are they deer resistant?

Purple shamrock is unlikely to be the first plant a deer will nibble on, but if a deer is hungry, you might find them eating hydrangea, stems, and even branches.

Do these bulbs need to be placed in water to get roots started?

No. They do take a while to start growth! I planted mine just below the soil and watered them well . Didn’t let them dry out. I placed one half in one pot and the rest in another one. I’m enclosing a photo of the results.
