Shoes Kids Pearl School Shoe

I grew up in South Africa and most children will start the school year with Toughees.Growing up I never needed to have a second pair of shoes bought for me half way through the year because the shoes became damaged, and in my last 2 years of schooling I wore the same pair and they lasted.I have now since had my own child and last year, she was 3/4 years old and started wearing uniform, she went through 8 pairs of school shoes in 6 months, the fronts became too scuffed and her toes were even visible through one pair, these pairs were bought in price range of £7-£12 from my local major supermarkets...I eventually thought that the supermarkets purposelly did this so you had to continually buy shoes, then I saw amazon were selling Toughees.I bought these shoes in October 2010 for about £25, I have now bought a new pair as my child has grown out of them, I have however polished her old pair and I'm giving them to one of her cousins. These shoes, even after 8 months of serious abuse from my child, still look like new! If you're thinking of buying these shoes then buy them, you won't be able to find an equal to these shoes for the price you can buy them from here. I know, I've looked :)These shoes have also been produced with the South African podiatry association and have passed SABC standards, their motto, "built strong to last long" is one Toughees live by.2015 Update: Fourth pair of Toughees in as many years and having to send these out to pasture as my daughter has outgrown them, these have taken a year of almost everyday wear; use and battered abuse as my daughter finds them so comfortable they're weekend shoes aswell.Ps: I've never once polished them and they're still looking good

I bought these in a size 4 knowing my child is a size 3 1/2 but has wide feet. After putting some slim padding at the back of her shoes they fitted her quite well. After the initial newness had wore off she has been comfortable in them and she has had a few scratches on them but not too bad. The only trouble we have had is with the buckle that got bend a bit but my husband managed to bend it back into place. All in all a good shoe so far I hope they last a good while.

I was a bit reluctant when I was buying these shoes for my 4 year old daughter. I have read other reviews and they have convinced me. And I am very pleased!! They are really tough, very good looking, my daughter says comfortable and she loves them. Since I have bought them I have to polish them only once (I had to polish the Clarks almost every day...). They look great and in one month of use they do not have any sign of scratches.Absolutely wonderful, personally much better than Clarks, and at the same price!I would 100% recommend them!!

The shoes arrived quickly, ready for the summer term, however after a couple of days a buckle broke. We phones Toughees themselves, and they sent out a new set of buckles and reimbursed us for the cobbler fitting them. Since then the shoes have been great, and still look hardly worn. This was our second child with toughees, and I still recommend the brand, and am looking for the third child's pair now.

A excellent shoe for kids and especially considering the material is very good. Unfortunately my daughter is only 4 and could not do the bungle. Just could not imagine how she would be frustrated with it in school when I am not near to do it for her. The material good but need to be a bit soft for those little soft feet for youngster. I would still go for one when my daughter is a bit older to do the bungle and no complain of material hurting her feet due to toughness

I discovered these shoes after a lot of research and I am over the moon with them! My little one is rather hard on her shoes and has been going through an average of 2 pairs every month since the beginning of term. I thought that I'd try them as the price is very reasonable and I didn't really have anything to lose, so glad I did! After 2 weeks of wear there is not so much as a scratch on them! One day the shoes were so muddy that I was convinced they would be damaged, especially after my little one informed me that she had been on the climbing frames at playtime, but a quick wipe with a damp cloth brought them up brand new again! My daughter has even wanted to wear them on weekends as she says they are super-comfy to wear. I would put these shoes on a par with Dr.Martens for durability and comfort but to be honest I actually prefer these as they are not as clumpy as Docs and look way more girly and smart. I am well impressed with these shoes and I can honestly recommend them to Mum's who are at the end of their tether with cheaply made, extortionate kids shoes that last for a week or two. Get Toughees and I promise you will never buy another school shoe for your little ones, and with the money you will save you can treat yourself to a nice pair of shoes for a change :-)

I had to return these as they were way too big for my daughter. I ordered size 5 as she had recently tried on a 5 in M & S and they were small on her and I expected these to come out bigger. They were well made smart and sturdy looking shoes and I was disappointed that they did not fit. The buckles were too stiff for her to do up herself but I think this was because they were new.

After extensive viewing of various reviews I purchased these shoes in October2012. As these were intended as a Xmas present I kept them until then.My only reservation was that the shoes seemed hard and not very flexible as it is not a rubber sole, it is a plastic sole. Has quite a hard inside of heel. Size was not a problem and I purchased inner soles to help make them more comfortable. I should have gone with my first instincts as my granddaughter will not wear them for these reasons. We have tried to get her to wear them just indoors but she only keeps them on to please us and this is only for about 15 mins. Quality of leather is good and they are a good looking shoe.But try as we might they are a wasted purchase and of course I am beyond return date.
