Great for the Price and Purpose
Background:I'm a amateur Journalist/ Documentarian / Videographer and have my own YouTube Channel where i travel to many Dance events up and down the country as well as various countries in Europe and do interviews with people either one a 1-2-1 level or in a group.Having done a few interviews, i was really miffed the amount of background noise (Loud Music etc) i was getting, so i decided to minimise this by investing in some Audio equipment.Setup:Tascam DR-07 MkIIBelkin Rockstar Multi-Headphone Splitter (5 way splitter)2 Speedlink Spec MicsBuild Quality. The Mic and the clip is made from metal, but the attachment that holds the mic to the clip is plastic, which hooks on and is held in place by a tiny screw (Slightly larger than the ones on reading Glasses)There are a few people that have complained about the clip and how it falls apart. This is true, but remember you're only paying £6. To fix this problem, the tiny screw can be tightened, which should resolve the problem. I would expect that upon transport and various vibrations, the screw has come lose and therefore causing the clip to fall apart. For the really paranoid, i uncrewed the plastic from the clip, applied the tiniest amount of superglue to the plastic side(literally no more than a tip of a toothpick) and re-screwed.Build Quality, Secure, Minor tweak maybe required.Audio quality is great, and clear.I initially bought 2, coupled with the Belkin splitter, so see how 2 mics would sound like going into my Audio Recorder. Still impressed and have ordered 3 more.If your only using one, you should be fine, but i would advise the more mic inputs you have the more background noise is amplifiedSummary; If your complaining, then go somewhere else and spend a little more money. Personally, for only spending £6 for a Lapel mic with a long cable and delivers great (not perfect, but great) Audio, i'm very happy with my purchase and great for any budding, Journalist/Hobbiest/ Videographer.4/5 stars because i will admit that it maybe inconvenient for some people that don't have a tiny screwdriver or superglue.

Good Quality Sound, Low Quality Build
I bought this as I needed to some low-budget interview work for a documentary, and this seemed to be decent enough.I purchased it on a tuesday and it arrived a week and a half later on free delivery. On arrival it was undamaged, thankfully (unlike some of the other reviews for this) I overestimated just how long the 2.5m wire was, so it was considerably shorter than I had imagined, but luckily I had an extension cable.the 3.5mm minijack will go into any mic input on a computer (NOT the line input on a mac, line input and mic input are different! You'll have to buy a secondary soundcard if you're a mac user to use this product) or any minijack input on any camera. It worked perfectly with my friend's 60D, which is what we were filming onto. The sound quality is very high, and only true audio nerds would be able to distinguish a difference between this and the higher level gizmos, and with absolutely no background noise that I could hear. However, the build quality is an issue. After a few days of considerably careful use, the sleeve that protects the wire joint at the base of the microphone ripped, meaning the wire is now liable to being yanked about and possibly pulled out. The clip is made of a rather-flimsy feeling metal, the bracket that holds the microphone in place (it's detachable) is plastic, as is the microphone itself. So, overall:Pros - Very good price - High sound quality - Undetectable background noise - Decent dispatch/delivery speed - Easily replaceable due to priceCons - Build quality may be an issue on some units - Must be handled with extreme care so not to damage sleeve - Unhelpful manual/instructionsAll in all I was happy with this product, so I have given it a 4/5 star rating.

Good quality for the size & price
I bought this to use with an Olympus LS-3 voice recorder, mainly because the built-in microphones on that device pick up every movement of my hands while I'm operating it. I had to switch on microphone power in the LS-3's settings, but once done the Speedlink works perfectly as an external mic for the Olympus. It's mono only, of course, and while it lacks some of the sensitivity of a larger microphone, or even the LS-3's small built-in ones, it does have a pleasant tonal range, with voices sounding rich and clear and with minimal background noise. The construction looks a little cheap, with a thin wire and a pink(!) plastic sheath on the plug - which was slightly crooked on the item I received. Having read other reviews, I've been cautious with the clip, only lifting the microphone up out of the holder, and have had no problems with it so far.I also own an Ultradisk 4033 tie clip microphone, which is slightly more expensive and has better construction, including a thicker cable. It also comes with a couple of windshields (unlike the Speedlink). But I don't like the sound quality as much: recordings are a little pinched and with more background noise than I'd like. The windshields of the Ultradisk 4033 are, incidentally, a very good fit for the Speedlink, if you lift the microphone up slightly in its clip to expose enough neck for the windshield to cling to.You can buy the 4033 windshields in packs of 5 here on Amazon: Ultradisk 5 X Microphone Foam Windshield Pack 4033 W x 21 mm L x 19 mm - 7.5 mm Inner Diameter.
