Game Changer - an excellent leveling system choice for occasional use/DIY'er
As a DIY'er tile is one of those projects that is very difficult to replicate the work of a true artisan/professional. There is lippage and general unevenness, and ultimately we end up hating the work we did.No longer. Using this system, we installed large format tiles (12" x 24") nearly perfectly. We used slightly larger grout lines than the 2mm or 3mm options - so I bought 2mm plates and we used a good quality 3/16" spacer that holds it's position. The ATR system is like a clamp for the tiles, holding them flat to each other while the mortar sets up.This is seriously the best tile work we've ever done, and now we feel like we could take on more tile jobs in the future.

Wonderful product
Worth every penny and they are reusable. I'm the same contractor who wrote a review on the green ATR spacers that go with these. I will never lay big tile again without these. No lippage and it makes your day enjoyable when you have to lay 12'' x 24'' tiles. I will be buying more on my next tile job. Use plenty of thinset on wall and backbutter the tiles and you'll be flying!

Works great for consistent tile ... not for naturally uneven, beveled or inconsistent materials
I'm a bit puzzled by some of the negative reviews of this product. I'm wondering if the reviewers just didn't understand what this product is designed to do and what it is NOT designed to do. All leveling systems on the market are going to rely on a few things .... that you already know what you are doing in general and that your tile products are of decent quality and exhibit consistent measurements from piece to piece. Also that the tiles are the proper size and thickness for the leveling system you are using. If those things are all true, then this system works just fine, and is actually easier to remove from the finished job than most other anti-lippage products. It's true that the spindles ARE smaller than many other systems and therefore this is probably most appropriate for medium and smaller format tiles, and probably is best suited for tiles less than 3/8" thick. No leveling system is going to work well with tiles that are inconsistent in thickness or which have beveled or graduated edges. For instance, tumbled travertine or other natural materials can exhibit a wide variance in edge line and thickness. That kind of product is best leveled by eye and float, and should probably be left to professionals. I am not a professional tile setter and I used this leveling system on my bathroom walls using highly consistent 8x8 porcelain. As with other high-quality porcelain tile that I shopped, it was a product where each tile is essentially an exact clone of all the others and with very clean, very well-defined corners / edges and identical thickness on every edge of every tile in every box. If you are using ceramic and not porcelain, remember that your edges are going to be manufactured differently ... they slope a small amount right at the edge, so if you are using a ceramic with a lot of variation and/or slope at the very edge, especially if it's a larger format tile, you probably will want a system that involves an upper face with more surface area and where that upper, clamping face is further from the joint. But for medium format or smaller (i would say 12" and less) and consistent tiles, this system is fine. If the spindles were broader and the waste pieces (the flat pieces that are left in the competed work and have to be re-purchased for each job) were a more reasonable price, I would have given this product 5 stars. But this product is NOT appropriate for every job so consider that before purchase. And the "refills" are overpriced in my opinion.

Large Grout Lines
The grout lines produced were much larger than the plates I purchased and not because I ordered or received the wrong size.I debated about spending the money on a leveling system for a 60 Sq ft project. Not having very much experience tiling I decided it would be better to have the assurance of a leveling system.I chose ATR because it looked like it might produce better grout lines. It uses a metal screw that is cleanly removed from the plate. Some alternatives use plastic spacers attached to the plates that must be broken off. If they don't break cleanly you need to find a way to remove them to have clean grout lines.I wanted 1/8th inch grout lines so I bought the 3mm plates and that is the size I received. I cut and laid out the whole floor using the plastic plates on top of the tilesuper to space them. I measured the grout line at 1/8 inch. However, when it came time to permanently place the tile the plates went under the tile. The tile spacing looked much larger, I measured it at 1/4 inch. I tried a number of ways to fix the spacing but couldn't. I ended up not using the system and instead used the plates as spacers on top of the tile.Still confused by the experience I wonder if my tiles are tapered. I will continue to research the problem. After leveling the tiles without a leveling system I can see how a system like this can save a ton of time and frustration. So I can not comment on how well the system levels but I have to give a 1 star rating because I think providing the correct tile spacing should be a requirement. It was very frustrating to discover this problem when I was ready to tile and I had to scramble for a working solution.I would want a leveling system for my next project but not this one.

Clips and wedges are way better. Way too much work with this product
Clips and wedges are way better. Way too much work with this product. Professional tile guy here. The Product does do the job though, but its not that simple. between 30-100 square foot is when you would want to take the time to level a floor with this system. anything beyond 100 sq.ft. I would stick with clips and wedges in my opinion. Other than that it's a good and innovative product.

GREAT SYSTEM
Very simple system to use. Place one in every corner, tighten and move on. Laid down tile in almost half the time. No morelifting of tile to add or remove thinset. Unlike other systems that require 4 clips on every corner, only need 1. Only thing is, make sure you keep the corners clean of thinset before placing spacers or you'll be digging out the corners after removing spindles.

Controls lippage
Great way to control lip page almost eliminated it to less than 1/16 in max over large area.
