Great Purchase
I have younger kids so "nice" furniture is not a wise investment for me. I'm so happy I bought this futon. I've used it to replace a ratty old loveseat that used to be in our living room. If you know what you're looking for, this is a really great piece of utility furniture. First of all the price is amazing for what you get - I couldn't see spending several hundred dollars for a piece of furniture that's just going to get dirty or treated like playground equipment by the kids. It was easy to build and is very easy to clean. It's comfortable enough to sit on to play a game or watch TV or a movie etc., folds down very easily, and looks pretty nice too. If I wasn't worried so much about spills or stains I'd maybe consider a piece of "forever" furniture, but for right now (and the next several years) having something functional that I'm not necessarily invested in is what I need, and this fits my purpose perfectly.

Brilliant design
What a versatile piece of furniture for the price! I have it in the Vanilla surrounded by sage-green walls and a deep garnet accent wall. I entertain A LOT...I have the EMILY futon sofa bed AND the Emily Chase. I love the European klik-klak design (no struggles to put the couches into beds. You just lean the backrest forward then the spring releases and it lays flat) and here is what this couch can do: You can set up the couch and chaise as a sectional, but I have them displayed separately in different rooms.. The sofa becomes a full bed (which is very uncomfortable due to the bar in the middle), so I bought a four-inch memory foam topper and it now it is very compfortable. The chaise becomes a twin bed (but I recommend buying a twin foam topper for guests). Right now, I have the entire set staged as a KING size bed in the guest room, complete with a microfiber topper. It is very comfortable. The sofa lays flat and the chaise, when flat, lays against it and velcros to form a KING. In the winter, we put up the back rests to the king and it makes a classy looking king-sized couch in the den. So comfy to watch TV and read. These are fun pieces because they are so versatile that depending on your mood and imagination, you can give any room a facelift. Although this is pleather, it is still nice looking. I clean it with Method Almond oil.

High-end looks, low-end price, be realistic in your expectations.
I'm torn between 3-4 stars. As far as looks go, its a 5 star product. It seems its somewhere between Ultra and Mid-century modern. The color as others have stated isn't a bright Apple store white, but in fact more of an off, vanilla. With that said this futon is 4 feet away from a stark bright white desk but neither piece looks out of place, also incandescent lighting will cast enough of a warm light on the room that they almost become the same color. From an assembly standpoint I'd say its a 3 or a 4 depending upon when it comes time to flip it right side up. The 2 halves are tied together via a standard hinge and flipping it over by yourself can be a chore as there is so much flex it seems as if its going to break. 2 people flipping at the same time solves the issue but it can be done by yourself as well, you just can't toss it on its feet is all I'm saying. The feet, while metal, are a VERY thin gauge tubing. I can understand as other people have said the legs have snapped at the welds why. To avoid that try not to do the typical sitting adjustment where you just suddenly thrust or scoot your body to change sitting position, I'd imagine that is what puts the lateral torque that causes welds to break, sideways. Just a thicker gauge metal would resolve any worries. Not really sure how it could be reinforced other than the owner adding wood feet in other places, but that will bring me to my next point. So far I think I'm 3-4 weeks in to ownership, and while there is no sagging to the FRAME as of yet, I can see where there is a possibility for it with long term use. Just for the sake of disclosure I have this product in my front office/video game room at home, there might be a week where I don't even go in there, let alone sit down, but then there will be spurts like the last 2 weeks I have laid on this for 4 hours every night playing xbox. If this item was used as a daily living room sofa with multiple people at a time I think it would be much more short lived than the sporadic use mine gets. I am 5'11ish I guess and 210lbs. I feel it is comfortable as long as you understand what it is, its not some super cushy sofa your going to sink down into watching Netflix for 12 hours. The best way to describe the cushion/padding of this is like a waiting room chair or seats at the movie theater. It has cushion to it, but it is a firm cushion. It is not the most comfortable but it is a lot better than a solid plastic or wood chair with no cushion at all. In futon mode I think it would be the perfect foundation to put a twin or full size air mattress on for an occasional spur of the moment guest bed. Sleeping on it bare for a full night might be a stretch but for an occasional afternoon nap, I had no issues the one time I tried it. I don't get people that expect futons to be a full time primary bed and want the comfort of a tempurpedic, a futon is the same void as a daybed, occasional sleeping for naps or temporary guests without taking up the size of a full time dedicated framed mattress bed. Now as far as the material, the faux leather/pleather looks nice, but it is very very, very, very, thin. You can tell by just pushing your finger into it how thin it is. because of this, I can say dogs, cats, and children standing on this could destroy it in about 10 minutes. it is just such a thin, soft material, that I just honestly feel that the covering will wear out well before the frame, cushioning, etc. I have several faux leather ottomans from Target and they are a much thicker, resilient material than this. The thinness of the covering will also show stretching pretty fast, there is a side that has more wrinkles than the other from just the occasional use. However the tufted design tends to hide it, as well as a few pillows that will be on there anyway. Sorry for such a long review however, I am always glad to see thorough review for items I am considering. Bottom line is this is an amazing looking piece, that looks much more expensive than it is. Not recommended as full time sofa or bed. Design has its flaws but a little common sense and realistic expectation of its price and what it is intended for go a long way. Not recommended for children or pets as climbing on it could tear the thin material pretty easily. Comfort is so-so, but that is the nature of futons. For the price it is great so far, I would buy again. The manufacturer should look at increasing gauge of tubing used for feet, as well as a much thicker covering on par with similar faux leather items from big box stores. I will also say that due to the nature of this product being mass produced, with the materials used, I can see where it would be pretty easy to get a lemon or one with issues. I wish they made a matching armless barcelona style chair/ottoman to go with this as matching the off white color and matteness of the white could be an issue with furniture placed directly against it. Overall I got this for $189 and am satisfied with it at that price, and would still be happy up to $250. Anything after that they would need to significantly upgrade materials used. There just isn't much that compares to this high end looking design, at this low of a price.

super easy to put together and very pretty. when I first sat on it, I was a bit concerned as it was not comfortable but after a few days of being assemble, it's really comfortable and changing it into a bed is super easy

After reading the reviews of this couch I had set the bar so low this thing could honestly have crawled over it. We needed a couch that was not expensive, temporary but still functional. I had resigned myself to a cheap couch from Ikea but the day I was about to order I came across this on sale for $249 and decided, what hell for an extra $100 the lay flat option might actually be of use. First, the box is heavy and large so don't expect to muscle it by yourself, but having said that I just flipped it end over end to get it into the house because well I'm stubborn. The couch is covered in some sort of fabric bag to protect it, which was nice because this thing is white and my black dog doesn't need any help getting it all dirty. It lifted right off at which point I found the couch has a hinge in the middle allowing it to literally fold in half for storage or transport which I have to say is actually pretty cool. There's a zipper sealed compartment on the underside which contains all the legs, 2 hex keys and 2 sets of screws. I uh didn't look at the instructions, but basically it's fairly obvious what goes where, the smaller of the screws was used for the center legs and the larger of the screws for the front legs. In all it took me about 10 minutes to put them all in and snug everything up. Flipping the couch over it felt a little flimsy and I was honestly worried that something was going to break but to my surprise, it was all just fine. Raising and lowering the back appeared to be a major source of pain for other reviewers, and here's what I learned within about ... 30 seconds? If you pull the back panels all the way forward and then lean them back they will go flat. When you raise them however from flat there are 2 click positions, the first is a reclined position the second is a seated position. If you stop raising once you hear the click, it locks into place. Note that for each panel there's a click on the left and right side of the panel. Comfort, it's a matter of taste and preference, for me I find the couch itself to be 'ok' in the comfort department for two reasons. 1. The back is quite low so you've got nowhere to rest your head unless you slide down into the couch and basically slouch awkwardly. I can definitely see my back flipping me the bird at some point doing this, but for the most part, it's not too bad. 2. Even at it's sharpest angle, you've got no lumbar support, but this can easily be corrected if you throw a cushion or something behind you. So all in all, I would give this couch a 4 out of 5 because really at $250 what are more are you expecting? Oh the material, this is the faux leather model and don't worry there is no chance you would ever mistake this as being leather, it takes faux to a whole new level. But in an interesting diversity quota kind of way.
