Excellent quality board. Does need oiling. It is also – not surprisingly – heavy. You could use this as a counter substitute or to cover over a cook top. Outstanding value.

Not one solid piece... spoon is splitting at the seam
I bought this set expecting durable maple cooking utensils, but one of the spoons is clearly made from separate pieces of wood joined together and has started splitting along the seam. This happened with normal kitchen use. For something that regularly comes into contact with food and moisture, a separating glued joint is disappointing and raises concerns about durability and sanitation. The rest of the set has been fine, but this spoon should not be coming apart like this.
