Small Brush, Big Results – This Thing Eats Algae for Breakfast
Small Brush, Big Results – This Thing Eats Algae for Breakfast I picked this up specifically for detail work in my pool—corners, steps, tight spots where a standard brush just doesn’t cut it—and it ended up being way more effective than I expected. The first thing you notice is how aggressive the stainless steel bristles are. This is not a gentle brush—and that’s exactly why it works. It cuts through stubborn algae and buildup quickly, especially in areas where softer nylon brushes just glide over the surface. On hard surfaces like gunite or concrete, it’s incredibly effective . The compact 5-inch size is actually a huge advantage. It lets you really focus pressure exactly where you need it—edges, corners, steps, and around fittings. It’s not meant to replace a full-size wall brush, but for targeted cleaning, it’s perfect. Build quality feels solid. The aluminum backing gives it a sturdy feel, and it holds up well under pressure. You can scrub hard without worrying about the head flexing or falling apart. It also attaches easily to a standard pool pole, which makes reaching deeper areas much easier. One thing to be very aware of—this is strictly for hard pool surfaces. Do NOT use it on vinyl or fiberglass unless you want to ruin your liner. This brush is meant to be aggressive, and it will absolutely scratch softer materials. Also, because it’s a smaller head, it’s not efficient for large surface areas. You’ll still want a larger brush for general cleaning and use this as your “problem solver” tool. Bottom line: If you have a concrete/gunite pool and deal with stubborn algae or buildup, this is a must-have. It’s a small, powerful tool that makes a big difference exactly where you need it most.

Good scrubber for extra cleaning
Good scrubber when I need a little extra power. Easy to connect to the oole. This size is good for what I needed and seems to have good durability with the stainless steel bristles. The bristles are a good stiffness but not too much.

cleans better than other brushes
Great quality. Really cleans the pool better than my regular brush. Sturdy metal brush. I only wish it was a little bigger.

A must have for plaster pool owners
I had not used any algaecide in the pool this year because the water looked so clear and clean. Also, I thought there was plenty of chlorine that was keeping the algae at bay. I didn't bother using a test strip because I felt like I could tell from my eyes having a little burning sensation. We went out of town for a week and we had about three torrential rains that week that probably added 800 gallons to our 10,000 gallon pool. I left the pump running but when we came back the breaker had tripped, so I don't know how long the pool wasn't circulating water. The following week I discovered that the chlorine level was at zero, the jets were barely circulating, and a couple of hundred black algae spots had developed all around the bottom and sides of the pool. The nylon brush wasn't doing anything to help. We called a pool company to give us some suggestions and the pool lady said to try "Algae Prevention & Remover" and a wire brush. I had never heard of a wire brush, all we have ever had was nylon brushes. I ordered both from Amazon and the brush arrived a day before the chemical. I decided to test it out even without the chemical. What a pleasant surprise! In about 30 minutes I was able to get most of the spots up and the pool looked ten times better. I then performed an extended filter backwash and rinse (about 1,000 gallons). That completely took care of the circulation issue. The next day I added about 1,000 gallons of fresh water from the tap, three pounds of powdered chlorine to shock the pool, and 16 ounces of the Algae Prevention & Remover. The following day that brush was performing miracles on our pool. This time it was removing more of the stubborn algae spots and lots of calcium deposits. If you have a marcite/plaster/tile type in ground pool (not nylon), and you do not own a stainless steel metal wire brush, I would highly recommend that you get one of these. Even though I was skeptical when it had a sticker on it that said "Made in China" my skepticism has been removed. None of the bristles have come out and they are all in good shape after one hour of pretty heavy use. The brush is ten inches wide, one inch thick, and the bristles are about an inch and a quarter long. Also, even though the brush is much smaller than a nylon brush, the brush does most of the work, unlike a nylon brush where you do most of the work.

Effective on black mold
I saw the user reviews stating metal bristles fell out and definitely hesitated to buy this based on that, but after weeks of use, I haven't seen any evidence of that. I imagine over a long period of time, a few may fall out, and I am worried whether that's a safety hazard in the pool, but for now they are hanging on. And it's been exactly what I needed to combat black mold growing in spots around the pool. My standard pool brush wouldn't break up the stuff, and while a handheld tile brush could, I couldn't get 9 feet down to the few spots that had accumulated. This thing works to break up the black mold. Just note that it will not remove the stains - just the organism itself, but the stains seems to dissipate after a few days. For what it's worth, I think this is note quite the right tool if you just have traditional green algae on the walls - that a plastic brush can handle, and being much bigger would cover much more surface area more easily.

small but solid wire brush
Started to get some dark spots on my pool that a regular brush couldn't take care of. Spoke to the local store while getting water tested, they suggested to do a wire brush. I don't have a lot of spots, so I opted for one with a small head. This works perfect for what I needed. Seems to be built solid. Not sure about rusting, but seems to be of good quality. This made easy work for cleaning those dark spots. Great value to eliminate tough stains in a concrete pool. Not for vynil!

Effective brushing
The brush is sturdy, can apply strong force on the brushing. Just the head turned into rusty after using for 6 months. I thought it’s in aluminum?
