Works great, easy to install
My KitchenAid top-freezer refrigerator would not shut off and the temperature rose to over 40 degrees F. I found web page saying that the most common cause of this is that the defrost thermostat is not working properly allowing frost to build up on the back wall of the freezer. Sure enough, the back wall of my freezer was frosted over. On the web page, there is a video showing how to replace the defrost thermostat. I found the part on Amazon, and followed the directions on the video. It's a very straightforward fix. The most time-consuming part was defrosting the freezer with a hair dryer. Refrigerator works fine now - no frost build-up in freezer and the temperature in the refrigerator is in the mid-30s where it should be. In addition to the thermostat, I had to buy a wire stripper and some wire splice nuts at the local hardware store. Total cost was about $20, probably one tenth of what a service call would have cost.

Works as it should! The refrig. is fixed!
My refrigerator was dripping water from the upper freezer into the lower section, caused by the drain passage freezing up every couple weeks. This required repeated emptying & "defrosting" of the freezer (Just like in the "good old days").I found my frig. schematic inside near the timer device, & did some research on the web. I'm a technician by trade, so understanding what was happening was easy enough & there are only 3 items in the defrost circuit, 1] the heater - I was able to verify OK by an Ohm meter test, 2] the timer - I could see the gears spinning once the cover was removed, and 3] the thermal switch (aka defrost thermostat). My frequent defrost excercises made me familiar with access to the back of the freezer where the thermostat lives. It was wired into a connector, but I simply snipped the wires at a convenient spot (leaving the connector intact) & wire-nut spliced the new thermostat into the original wires. No muss. No fuss. Frig. works great now & the part cost was about 1/6th of local supplier, & I wouldn't even guess what a service call would have been. Do it yourself. It's easy.

Great price for fix for freezer defrost cycle dumping water into fridge
I bought this product to rectify a problem with the freezer defrost cycle. The water tube in the back of the freezer (which releases the water after a defrost cycle) was constantly freezing the water in the tube thus dumping water into the fridge (since the tube was frozen closed). This worked like a charm. Very easy to replace. I just spliced into the existing wiring with connectors and shrink tubing. What a godsend, not to have to constantly wipe up the water in the fridge and empty/defrost the fridge every month! Hope this helps others that have this problem!

Just what the Fridge doctor ordered...
Refrigerator problems are no fun, so when I researched the symptoms and determined the parts required to resolve the problem, I was happy to find the parts and great prices on Amazon. Part received quickly and the fridge is running like new, plus D.I.Y. saved me a few hundred dollars in labor costs, since it took a couple hours to de-ice the coil and put everything back together...

Test the timer and element while you're at it!
Fast delivery. It's worth while to cross the leads (freezer side) before wiring this in. Then test for voltage to the heater element... then connect the heater and feel it to check its function. My faulty bimetal had the classic "popped top". I think water got inside, froze & expanded, and then broke the solder joints.

Works great
I installed it to my refrigerator and it fixed the problem. My freezer was accumulating too much ice, but wasn't keeping anything cool and after i installed the device my refrigerator began working perfectly again. It was overall an easy fix with no complications of any sort.
