Highly saturated pigments and so creamy! I love my oil pastels!

Una decepción, vienen empapados en aceite. No venia sellado el paquete.Nunca he visto pasteles al oil bañados en aceite. Cuando abrí ardieron los ojos.Todos sucios. En verdad una decepción. Cremosos si, colores bonitos también. Una mantequilla es mas dura que los pasteles éstos. La caja por dentro y los pasteles bañados en aceite. Porfuera rayada como si estuviera usada o vieja la caja Una lástima, precio altos para lo que viene. Sucios y caja vieja es la palabra.

72 Floral Colors set: Having purchased several Paul Rubens oil pastel sets, I was very disappointed in the quality of this set. Although the box arrived intact and undamaged, it contained: -25 greasy pastels (see photo with red x's) in oil-saturated wrappers glistening with oil and requiring hand-washing after handling -5 pastels which were very contaminated with other colours (a few others had mild colour contamination) -1 pastel looking ‘beat-up’ with a damaged wrapper. The unusual greasiness of the pastels was not due to high outside temperature (it was only 20C) nor was it a characteristic of the affected colours (e.g. ’213 Bean Yellow’ was dripping with oil but the same colour from my Paul Rubens Morandi set is fine). The fact that: i) the greasy pastels were dispersed amongst the normal pastels in the box, ii) all pastels were undamaged in their respective places, and iii) the packaging was intact suggests they were packaged this way by the manufacturer. In summary, despite the good packaging, 31 of 72 (43%) pastels in this set were unacceptable to sell to a customer. Compared to my previous good experiences with PR oil pastels, this represents a significant decrease in quality and, given the number of unacceptable pastels in the box, I have to score this item 1/5. What is normally an enjoyable product was quite unpleasant in this case, however, if Paul Rubens sends me a better product in the future, I’m willing to change my mind. 72 Seaside Scenery/72 Landscapes Colors: I ordered this set at the same time as the Floral set and 26 of 72 (36%) pastels were soaked in oil (see photo with yellow x's for affected pastels), my hands sticky and greasy after merely touching the wrappers! It’s true that soft oil pastels can be messy on your hands but not BEFORE you use them! Although I’ve enjoyed the PR sets I’ve purchased in the past, this set is also disappointing. Note: 34 pastels (47%) in this set are duplicated in the Paul Rubens 72 Seaside Scenery/Landscape set.

The opposite of dry, but not in a bad way!! Not waxy feeling at all, easy to spread with fingers. Great opacity. Does leave small crumbles sometimes but that’s standard for most decent oil pastels. Blends very well. Nice selection of colours!

The crayons are soft and easy to work with. Blending is easy.
