House of Dphwa Rice Makgeplli Moisturizer 2.02 oz
Made in Korea this rice based moisturizer has a light texture and leaves no greasy or sticky residue although allow a few moments for the cream to be completely absorbed. Before applying to my face I tested a small amount on the top of one hand and the difference between was noticeable—it definitely plumped the skin creating a healthy look and it had the same result on my face. Directions are after performing the user’s usual facial routine apply an appropriate amount and gently massage into skin—there is no mention of whether to use once or twice a day. The ingredient list is long but the stated key ingredients in this 2.02 ounce jar of moisturizer are rice wine, rice extract, rice bran extract and ceramide H5. Fragrance is a component listed near the end of the ingredients and the scent is very light and neutral and it also dissipates quickly. To estimate product life the expiration date is 29 months in the future but dates may vary. Pleasant to use and good hydration--very nice face cream.

Rich and creamy, but not at all greasy
Korean skincare is almost always outstanding - I love it - and this Rice Makgeolli Moisturizer is no exception. I am 62 years old and have very dry skin, so I have tried skincare products from drugstore to spa. I have come to learn what works and what is the best I can expect. What I don't expect is actual "anti-aging", but what I do look for is deep and lasting hydration which keeps my skin as dewy and bright as possible. Rice bran is very hydrating, and ceramide is also... this cream has both so I was excited to try it. To my joy it is exactly what I want from a moisturizer: a rich luscious cream that glides on smoothly with no tugging whatsoever. It absorbs very quickly, with no greasiness at all, and it provides lasting hydration that brightens my skin. Bottom Line: Quality ingredients, rich cream that is not heavy, and excellent hydration!

Elegant presentation. Contains a silicone (phenyl trimethicone) if you choose to avoid.
The 60 ml / 2.02 oz gray glass jar of Rice Makgeolli Moisturizer arrived elegantly presented inside a black paper box with a cream-colored paper ribbon along the top and sides. The ribbon is attached at the bottom of the round box and can be gently pushed off to the side to allow access. Inside, curved around the jar and box, is a long piece of paper with additional information in English and Korean. A protective piece of tabbed white plastic was under the lid, but this moisturizer was not otherwise sealed. Directions and ingredients are on the box in English and Korean, but the jar’s text is almost all Korean. There’s no scent to my nose, even though the vague “Fragrance” is listed (4th from the end ahead of Glucose, Oryza Sativa/Rice Bran Extract, and Ceramide NP). My still acne-prone, combination skin loves Niacinamide, so I was happy to see it listed 7th, along with many other excellent ingredients. I’ve used a gentle cleanser and toner that contained rice extract and rice bran extract, and my skin really liked them, but this is my first moisturizer with rice wine and the two rice extracts. This moisturizer is lightweight, and it seemed to melt over my skin as I applied it. Because it spread so well, it was easy to apply a light layer. It’s a gentle moisturizer and I experienced no irritation. Unfortunately, I can feel this moisturizer on my face, even once it’s fully absorbed (it’s tacky for quite a while on me). I’m okay with a bit of texture on my body, but not on my face. I try to choose moisturizers without silicone, but I see that Phenyl Trimethicone is listed (12th out of 37), so it might be that or it might be something else. I tried using this moisturizer on its own, over a few different toners, and with or without actives underneath, but there was always that filmy layer that I could feel. Other than that, my skin felt and looked good/well moisturized. Vegan is written on the jar in English. Cruelty free per several outside sources, but it’s not on the jar or box that I could find. Printed on the bottom of the jar I received in June 2024 was the date “2026.11.27”. Made in Korea.

Creamy, lightweight and hydrating!
I’ve never tried a moisturizer made with Korean Rice, so I was excited to try out this House of Dohwa Rice Makgeolli Moisturizer ! I have fairly sensitive skin and have had no adverse reactions. This moisturizer is really nice! It’s super soft and creamy but light weight. Can be used day or night time. I usually use a thicker moisturizer at night but actually have been going for this one lately, as it really gives my skin a nice plump and glow to it when I wake up in the morning. Super hydrating! I’m a huge fan so far!

Revives and Works Wonders on My Dry, Sensitive Skin
Packed with skin loving ingredients, this moisturizer works wonders on my dry, sensitive skin. Its lightweight, a little goes a long way and has a fast absorption that doesn't leave skin greasy or sticky . Not only does it soften and hydrate, it brightens my otherwise dull skin. I use this in conjunction with House of Dohwa's Rice Makgeolli serum. There is no scent. I experience no negative reaction to any of the ingredients; quite the opposite. It seems to be just what my skin needs. Thanks to wonderful ingredients, the fact that only a small amount is needed per use and the wonderful results, the price is reasonable.
