Bear Archery Titan Bow for Youth, Recommended Ages 12-16, Ambidextrous, Continuous Draw Weight Up to 29 lb., Continuous Draw Length Up to 28-inches

I bought this for my son for his 11th birthday. He had been hounding me about getting a traditional bow for quite a while. Never knowing if your child will have an abiding interest in something often gives a frugal parent pause before buying an expensive item. As such, I was hesitant to buy a nice laminated wood bow for him. I figured this bow would give him something to try out and see if he likes archery, without breaking the bank. This bow, and some youth carbon arrows comprised the bulk of his birthday presents. I have hardly seen him put it down since. He shoots every day, even now that school has started. So far, he has shot it hundreds of times with no failures of any kind. As a fiberglass bow, it does have some hand shock, as I expected it would. But unlike some reviews I have read about tip separation, we haven't seen any problems at all. i imagine that this was a known issue and has been resolved at Bear. Overall, this has been a great purchase for my son.

Only buy this as a set if the price is better than the bow by itself. The arrows, shooting tab and quiver are useless. The arm guard is functional if it fits your arm - it doesn't fit mine. The target is usable for as long as any paper target would be usable. First, make sure you know how to string the bow. By this I mean that you understand which direction the bow is supposed to bend. It has a slight recurve to it. If you think the string it came with is too short, you're probably doing it the wrong way. I also suspect this is the cause for the tips coming off. Strung properly the force of the string should press them onto the limbs. Strung incorrectly, I could imagine the tips being pulled straight off the limbs. Speaking of the string, you can get started with the one it comes with, but as soon as possible you should take the bow to your local shop and get a real string and have them put a nock indicator on it. While you're there you can buy some proper arrows with feathers instead of flights. I shoot a 30" Easton XX75. I also shoot some Carbon Express 30" arrows with flights - despite my advice above to the contrary. They have different weights, so I have to adjust, and they kick out a little more, but at distance they flatten out mostly ok. I just adjust my aim and it's all good. I don't use an arm guard nor a shooting tab or glove. If the string is hitting your arm it's usually because there is something wrong with your form. While you're at the archery shop set up a lesson or two. Make sure it's someone who knows how to teach recurve. One or two hour long sessions could really help if you are having trouble hitting the target or being consistent. I'm able to shoot this bow at 20 yards (indoor range), with a mixed quiver of the aforementioned arrows, into an 8" group. They penetrate into the target block about 6" with 100 grain field points. It's not legal to hunt with this, but it could certainly be lethal, especially with broadheads. Many a deer has been harvested with a bow of this poundage or less. Handle with care and observe safety protocols at all times. Since its made out of fiberglass, it should last for a good long time. Never dry fire and always let it down by removing the string when finished. Store it flat. With a little practice, and a lesson or two if you need it, this bow (not the extras) should bring you many, many hours of enjoyment.

This is an amazing bow!! Bought it for our son's 16th birthday. He is a beginner, but caught on quick. His siblings bought him a big foam filled target and it has brought endless entertainment to the whole family as the kids compete with one another (ages 16- 24). Definitely for an older teen. Buy lots of extra arrows because they get lost!! The best arrows to go with this bow, which is called "traditional" or recursive, as opposed to the compound bows...is the Eastman arrows. They come 6 in a box for about $24 or so and are strictly made for recursive or traditional bows. They are shiny and easier to find in the grass. They also are of better quality. But this is an awesome beginner bow!! I like the set because you get a couple of arrows and the arm protector. You will need to buy your own glove; this set just has a finger glove; not enough...and the target is useless.

Purchased for my daughter, and unfortunately, she barely used it. This time (3rd USE!!) the stringing tip just fell off, and doesn't even appear to have been glued on. I thought the bow was SOLID construction. Beware, it is not. I could understand a "snap off" break, but that didn't happen. The slip on tip just slid off and makes the bow completely unusable. Lesson learned.

I bought this bow my daughter on her 15th birthday, she is becoming interested in archery. She likes the bow. The draw weight, 20-30 pounds, is perfect for her. So far, she's used the bow for perhaps 10 hours, shooting into a home-made styrofoam target and sometimes the ground without damaging the arrows. The bow will shoot about 75 yards maximum, it is a weapon. The accessories are child size but the arm guard works for her. The finger tab is too small and she doesn't use it, she's looking for a replacement and a few more arrows.

Very good quality for the price. Simple ambidextrous target shooting design and the 60" AMO is a great length for the novice target shooter. Two downside issues. 1 -This bow has caps on the ends for the bowstring which creates more potential for product failure and 2 -the string it comes with is low quality and will need replacing. The caped ends have not been a problem for me but the string broke after a couple of days shooting. I bought this set because it was priced lower than the bow alone. If the Titan bow is available for less without the extras buy it that way. The armguard fits my seven year old (who shoots a lighter bow) and the arrows are dangerously short for an adult or teenagers if their pull is 28"or over. The other extras are not even worth mentioning.

I've been highly excited to pick up archery for a while now and, finally, this christmas my lovely wife bought me this set to get me started. I was over the moon! When the package arrived after christmas (Thanks UPS....), I couldn't wait to get started. I opened up the plastic sleeve and poured out my archery kit. One bow that looked awesome, a badly folded and damaged target, two arrows of different lengths (only one of which actually fit the draw of my bow, the other was ridiculously short), a tiny forearm guard that doesn't actually fit my not-that-big-adult-male forearms, and a tiny finger guard that doesn't fit my fingers. Granted, this is a teen's archery set, but my forearm and finger size hasn't changed *that* much since I was a teenager (my stomach and love-handles are a totally different story!) so it was pretty disappointing that I couldn't actually use the safety gear included in the set. I skipped trying to figure out how to use the completely unusable target that came with the set and just propped up an old cardboard box "stump" to do a couple test fires with. I quickly reviewed a beginner's archery site for safe practice techniques, strung my bow, and set in to finally fire an arrow. and...POP.SNAP.SLAP! The damn lower tip popped off once I hit full draw, causing the under-pressure string to fling the cap piece somewhere over the rainbow. I have to assume thats where the cap ended up, because instead of watching it's trajectory I was laying on the grass, clutching my neck and jaw where a welt was already rising from where the string caught me. So now I'm nursing a sore welt, sitting in wet jeans, packaging up my beginner archery kit to send back to the seller and waiting for my replacement to arrive. I'll adjust this score accordingly, once I see how the replacement process works and what I get in return. But till then, this is a great cheap entry into archery....if the equipment you're sent isn't defective. UPDATE: Received my replacement set already. Checked the bow out and the tips are solidly on this one, so fingers crossed they hold up through my first practice session. This set actually came with two 31" arrows, much to my happiness. The quiver and finger-guard is still rubbish, as is the included target. With an adequate replacement, I'm bumping this up to three stars instead of my initial two. Not wildly impressed so far, but it serves its purpose at a nice, low price-point. SECOND UPDATE: Used the bow for 5 months, both tips popped off. Having a bow at full draw then have the tips suddenly pop off hurts - a lot. After reading around, seems that the Titan bow is sold with too short of a string (55" instead of 57") which might contribute to the tips popping off. Bear should be ashamed of themselves for selling such a cheaply put together beginners kit, it really is rubbish. 2 stars, only because of it's price point.

For the price I paid for....accessories included should be upgraded. The bow is big but those accessories are too small for it.
