Sturdy feel, great function, curved/straight blade. Lets this noob score bread like a pro!
LOVE this Lame! It works exactly like it should, but also has a strong and sturdy feel to it. The blade can be put in straight or curved, and it has a nice solid lock in detents that hold the blade firm. Overall the weigh, shape, and size make it super easy to use and brought my bread making game up a few levels. If you can only have one lame to use, this would be it!

Superb
I recently acquired the Baker of Seville Bread Lame, which comes with six included blades and the versatility of both straight and curved options. This bread lame has truly elevated my bread-baking experience. The precision and ease of use with the included blades have made scoring dough a breeze. It provides the fine control needed to achieve beautiful designs on the crust of my bread, ensuring not only a professional appearance but also excellent oven spring. The quality and craftsmanship of this bread lame are evident, making it a valuable addition to my baking tools. It's not just a practical tool; it's a mark of dedication to the art of bread-making. If you're serious about your bread-baking endeavors and aim for consistency and artistry in your loaves, the Baker of Seville Bread Lame is a worthy investment. It has become an essential companion in my kitchen, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to fellow bakers who seek precision and excellence.

Really good, with some room for improvement
As others are saying, this is a very high quality product and I think it will be around and still beautiful long after I'm gone. It's my first lame, so I can't compare it to others, but it definitely is sturdy and gets the job done. I have some minor complaints about it, where I think it could be improved: 1) The plastic storage box it came in is incredibly flimsy, and even though there is an arrow indicating that you should slide the lid off horizontally and little guides/indentations on the sides as though that is the only way to open it, it's so thin that the lid can simply be pulled straight off (upwards, not sliding it) and it kind of falls off when handled. I wouldn't trust this box to stay together if I was going to pack it for travel. Compared to the lame which is so beautiful and sturdy, the box is wimpy, unprotective, and low quality (although the foam insert is nice). 2) Occasionally, I feel like the screw-on cap that holds the blade in place is in the way. Depending on the angle of your work, it might poke into your dough. This wouldn't be an issue with a traditional lame. Mostly it's not an issue, but it could be, depending on what you are doing, especially because it's sticking out on the side of the curve, which means it's always pointing down at your dough. 3) I do wish that the handle had some sculpting so that it's not just totally smooth and potentially slippery. It would be nice if there was something to grip, like some indentations for your fingers (think toothbrush handle).

My favorite lame!
This is my fourth and favorite lame. Initially I used inexpensive plastic ones, but didn’t care for the fact that they were disposable. My 3rd was the highly rated UFO by Wire Monkey. While a nifty and compact little device that made good cuts in the dough, it was poorly suited to my hand tremors and it was a challenge not to end up with at least one bloody cut. This one makes great cuts, with the option of having the blade straight or curved. And the nicely weighted long handle makes it a much safer tool whether your hands are steady or not. I’m having fun making different patterns of cuts in the dough, allowing for good “oven spring”. My bread looks more professional and is not bursting open in the oven. Replacement blades can be purchased easily and inexpensively, so not much is being added to the waste stream.

Solid tool for bread scoring.
Great lame - one piece of heave steel. It feels great in the hand. The adjustment between straight and curved is easy and helpful. The blades it comes with are, unfortunately, junk and don’t keep their edge very long. So, just save yourself some headaches and buy some Astra’s when you get this.

Sturdy, high quality, durable
This lame is very sturdy. It has a solid, evenly weighted (ergonomic) feel when you hold it. The lame comes in a safety case, where it is nestled in a foam bed. The case has a sleeve style sliding lid. It can't possibly fall out, even if you drop the case. The whole case is then placed in a simple cardboard box with the manufacturer's name on the cover. I keep it right near where I do most of my bread scoring. I love that it also comes with a supply of blades to replace the one that is already affixed to it. It is attached by screw at the central point, with two bumps to align with the holes in the flat surface of the blade, for stability. It is easy to rotate the blade to expose the opposite corners' edges. You simply curve the opposing corners upwards, creating a U shape, then rotate it and let it go back to its former position, only having been turned 180 degrees. The lame is well worth its cost. You're not just buying a lame. You're buying a scoring system. As long as single edge razor blades are made, this lame will hold up to the rigors of artisan bread scoring!

Love the 2-in-one tool, came with a box, easy to store and safely kept away from children. I use this to score bread. Blade can be changed very easily.
