Q: safe to use in pots or does it scratch them?

I haven't purchased this yet but I have a Cuisinart immersion blender which I hate-splashes everywhere very easily and it has partially broken. It is usable but I want to replace it. I have nice stainless steel All Clad pots and was concerned about scratching, but have decided that I have an old and deep 3 quart saucepan that I will use to transfer cooked soup from a good pot to the old pot and then I won't need to worry about scratching my pot. It seems like an easy solution. It just means one extra pot to wash and soup pots are usually easy to clean.

Q: What is the diameter of the blending attachment and of the wisk (I need to make sure it will fit in the cups I want to use it with)?

Blender is 2 5/8" dia. Whisk is 2"

Q: can you use this in a pot of hot soup right on the stove top?

Yes. I used this in my Instant Pot while my soup was still hot, and it worked beautifully.
