Originally developed for use in sculpting Disney's animatronics models , WED (Walter E. Disney) clay is an extremely versatile water based clay with properties similar to many of today's most popular oil based clays. It's smooth, slow drying, extremely pliable, and works great for sculptors seeking a "fast sculpt" medium. WED clay is still commonly used by professionals in the entertainment industry for masks, modeling, mockup, and large scale sculptures. Like any water based clay, WED clay needs to be kept moist, preferably with a spray bottle or a damp towel. Saran wrap is also commonly used.

dries is very crumbly falls apart easy and cracks and looks faded.
Got this for my son to move to the next level with his sculpting used it okay but the end result was far less than what we expected after the clay dried it becomes extremely brittle and it cracks along in different areas of the sculpture

Nothing but cracks
I've wasted weeks making sculptures that crack. The crack in the leaping whale (see photo) was my fault. The armature was not stiff enough. However, the body of the whale cracked in several more places. There was no flex in that portion. So, I wondered if I was letting the clay dry too quickly. So, I tried sculpting a stretching cat. The armature was very stiff. I kept the piece in a ziplock bag and sprayed it with water before I sealed it. It was a week or two before I got back to it. And it had already developed cracks! I don't have forever to wait for pieces to dry. I certainly don't want to find that time wasted with nothing to show but cracked sculptures. It's back to polymer clay for me.
