Nice but difficult to cook
Not too much of a taste to it. I had to be very careful with how I boiled it as it requires somewhat of a slow cooking method. Otherwise, I was concerned that it would melt or become pasty. Once you achieve the texture that you are looking for, it is pretty simple to serve at. At the end of the day you end up with a very well priced product that can last you a while but be careful of cooking is because it could end up becoming a disaster. Still it helped with my boba milk tea and that was fun

Better price
I made mango sago and I added the pearls and it tasted delicious. It’s also cheaper here.

Pearl tapioca
They are not the quick cooking tapioca and will need to be soaked like uncooked beans.

Soft and bouncy
These tapioca pearls are nice! They boil nicely and are great for my sago pudding. I have also left them soaked in brown sugar syrup for 20 minutes and it tasted like boba tea boba which was nice. They were nice, soft, and bouncy!

These mini tapioca balls are good for a variety of both hot and cold drinks. I have made bubble tea, iced tea and even fresh fruit juice with it. They add a nice texture to your drink. They have no flavour so you need to sweeten them yourself. For best results, I would recommend simmering them in boiling water and brown sugar or for at least 10 minutes. They seem small but they grow about double in size so you only need to boil a few spoons of the pearls per drink serving depending on the size of your drink. I usually order the larger tapioca balls but these are a nice change. I do think I prefer the large balls because they have more of a chewy texture, however, these are still very enjoyable and don’t require a special thick straw to be consume. Not only can these be used in a variety of hot and cold beverages but it’s also wonderful to use in desserts or ice cream as a topper for that added chewy texture. Some people are sensitive to the texture of tapioca pearls, however if you love gummy candy I think you will love these! Just make sure you prepare it correctly and sweeten to your desired sweetness level.

These sago pearls cook evenly and turn beautifully translucent with a great chewy texture. Truly easy to prepare and work perfectly in coconut milk desserts, mango sago, and homemade bubble tea. I bought these to make a Vietnamese dessert called Che Chuoi! The 500g size is a good value and lasts a while (unless you're running a dessert pop-up). Great quality!

This is a review for: Soeos Sago Tapioca Pearls, 1.1 lb (500g) – Ideal for Asian Desserts, Bubble Teas & Cooking Creations, $17.98 at time of writing. My daughter loves boba tea and wanted to try making tapioca pearls. The ingredients are a bit hard to come by in our area, so when I saw these, I knew we would have to try them. There are so many that come in a bag! Before reading what it was, I thought I had somehow ordered little styrofoam balls - they stick to the sides of the bag from the static lol They cook up easy! There are instructions right on the bag. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. It is *very* easy to put in too many pearls at once. Make sure to stick to the 30:1 water to pearls ratio from the instructions. Even though the listing has a 20:1 water to pearls ratio, we had good results with 30:1. They expand a lot - a little bit smaller than what we've seen in tea shops, but that may be from user error. They have a shelf life of 18 months, which is great because there are so many pearls. They keep in the fridge for up to 2 days (with optimal texture) after being cooked by keeping them in an airtight container and submerged in sugar water or simple syrup, so if you're only making these for teas, making small batches at a time would be ideal. I've read they can be frozen in simple syrup for up to 6 months, but haven't tried this. Soaking the pearls in a brown sugar syrup resulted in pearls that have the same texture and taste of the pearls we usually get in cafe teas. They took on a light brown colour after soaking in the syrup in the fridge overnight. These easy to cook and store tapioca pearls make it possible to make teas easily at home.
