A comprehensive kit
An affordable, well optioned kit to get started in electronic soldering. Really like the adjustable temperature control.

Nice little kit.
Very impressed with this low priced kit. Paid about 17 for it. I've been repairing electronics for over 30 years, so many years of experience with various irons and stations. One of the most important things to me is the tip: Does it continue to clean easy? Does it begin disintegrating? I am very impressed with the tip. I actually clean mine with a little solder as it heats. Wipe the tip with solder until it easily flows on the tip. It has been a few weeks of daily use and the tip is still like new. Iron temperature: Next is controlling temperature. Too hot and traces on boards come loose easily. Too cool or not enough power and large solder connections get very hard to melt. This iron is very controllable for small work and enough power when the temp is turned up high to melt tuff large connections. Just give it a little time to heat it up. The accessories like the solder remover is cheap, but actually works ok. Trigger gets a bit flaky after some use, but still usable. Not a solder sucker for intense daily work, but fine if your just using it now and then. The wire stripper surprised me with its ease of use. Then you have a nice case to hold everything. Solder and soft Flux is a nice toss in as well. Tweezers are flimsy...but seriously...who cares. Basically, for the price, it is a truly great deal! Buy it, use it, enjoy.

For the price what do you expect
Let’s start by saying I have a Weller with a digital readout and only need this for insert pressing, and more portable soldering, so I keep my Weller for soldering on the workbench. The overall build is similar to those in its price range, nothing to write home about. The reason I purchased this one over the others is because of the rubber buttons, which is a disappointment. The rubber buttons are just covers that freely rotate, but I needed a temperature screen without lugging a big power supply. The one wish I have is the budget options making a better soldering iron and leaving out accessories. I understand they are trying to target people who just need everything as a kit, but these cheap kits won’t last. Make a robust budget soldering iron for $25 and a good budget soldering kit for $25 as an option to add on if you’re the 1 time user, most people will benefit from better quality pieces. As of now If you’re just looking for a robust soldering iron but no screen, Weller makes a few plug in options that are good; just be aware, they are lower power, no display and the lights are not bright.
