The old saying goes, do what you do and do it best. Uncle Ben's (or just "Ben's" now I guess) knows their stuff. When they stick to it. Like I said the Jasmine Rice version of the exact same pouch-style = Amazing. This. Not so much. I'll explain why. Spanish Style (with Tomatoes & Peppers): If I were from Spain I would be insulted knowing this is allowed to be sold. Kidding. Somewhat. It's just not very good and nothing like Spanish-style rice you would make at home or even get at a restaurant. It's greasy, almost. Yet there's no grease involved?! That should alarm anyone, off the bat. Vague amounts of flavor that just ever so barely resemble the taste it's supposed to. Long story short, I couldn't finish it. And I was fairly hungry. Roasted Chicken (Flavored with Carrots & Herbs): Another nightmare! Though slightly better, at least in attempt, of what the package says it's supposed to be or at least taste like. No chicken at all. I was almost delighted that I thought there were a few pieces, only to my dismay there were simply clumped, mushy pieces of rice that merely resembled such. I think you can see in the picture there's 1 piece of carrot perhaps a few millimeters in girth. How's that for a balanced meal. In conclusion, please pass on this and just get the white Jasmine rice variety. That will not disappoint. Flawless adaptation of the stove-top/traditional version into something you can microwave in a minute and a half. That's a great product I will be buying again. These, eh, being charitable if you were going to add this to something like a burrito or some sort of larger dish that the rice isn't the main focus on but only a side element, that's a good use for these. Anything else, I'd say your money is better spent on the Jasmine/Original type variety. These versions would pass for something served at a school or prison. Anywhere else, you can do better. They just didn't do a great job adapting from the stove-top/traditionally-prepared rice dishes they're purportedly from for use in the microwave as far as these particular versions. Just my opinion.
