How About a Sturdy Reliable Watch?
I bought the Vivoactive 3 around three days ago. This is a great watch. I paid a little over 160 dollars / w tax included. Let me just say it is a tremendous buy & well worth the money. The battery life is great. I'm at 47% as of right now. And that's with the GPS running, plus Bluetooth on. This watch is a very accurate piece. Keeps time we'll. You can set this watch up for swimming, walking, running, golf, and areobics. It's excellent on keeping messages & viewing notifications. It uses the Garmin, and Garmin Connect apps. This watch pairs with your phone like a charm. The Vivoactive 3also has Garmin Pay. Which is handy for those times that you may have left your smartphone at the house or somewhere in your car. This has sleep tracking, calories in take. Measures your heartbeat & blood pressure. In the Garmin app you may set it up for physical fit challenges and programs. Right now it's giving me two messages. More tips on how to use the watch. And it just told me to get up & move. And this time piece is very trendy, good looking. Plus it's sturdy but real comfy to wear. This is a good buy.

Love this watch. Great price is a bonus.
Bottom Line Up Front: I love this watch. Pros: - color LCD screen - lots of ability to personalize - app gives you lots of data - extended warranty - Apps are variable and easily changed - you can edit your watch faces - lots of GPS options - lots of sports options - the price is right Cons - no ECG (this is on the new version) - no on board music capability (also on the new version) I'm not a super gym rat. My job requires that I maintain reasonable physical fitness, but nothing extreme. So I don't care if the watch can count pullups or situps. I do care that it can track bike, run and swim activities accurately (pool, not open ocean) and work as a reasonable activity and sleep tracker. This watch meets my needs and more. There are far more activities than I need, but that's kinda cool. I will give a better review once I have used it for a while.

Not perfect but great
This watch works very well for its intended purpose. Its nota multi thousand dollar piece of medical monitoring equipment. The heart rate function is not 100 percent accurate, I believe it depends on many variables, how tight or loose the strap is, the angle of your wrist etc. but it gives you a ball park idea and that's as good as it gets. There is an optional chest strap with more accuracy available. the Gps is very accurate and locks in quickly to the satellites. The user interface works good after you learn how to use it, there are lots of menus and it takes a bit to figure out how its all laid out. There is a lock feature that you must use when swimming or showering or the water messes with all your settings, the lock feature could be easier to activate....possibly by providing one more physical button just for locking and unlocking. there are plenty of activity apps provided and you can make a custom one in Garmin Connect if you desire. there are a lot of features that may be useful to some but not others, these can be disabled if not wanted. the watch connects easily with my Android phone and the music controls are very handy. The find your phone feature works great when the grand kids toss the phone under the couch or it slides between the cushions on the couch...love it! Garmin Connect is great lots of graphs and useful information is logged on your activities, and the GPS provides an actual Google map of your run, walk, cycle route or Kayak path. The sleep function has its limitations but provides a general idea of what goes on at night. All in all a very high tech watch that works pretty darn good and provides a good deal of information and fitness motivation.....good job Garmin!

Garmin Vivoactive 3 1,2 Watch is a Winner So Far
There are several "smart" functions that I haven't used yet, such as swimming laps, GPS mode, Garmin Pay, etc., so I'll reserve the right to update my evaluation of those functions at a later time (which is why I only gave this a 4-star rating). Right now, I primarily use it for daily activities that are transferred to the phone app, such as # of Steps, Sleep Cycles, Heart Rate Monitoring, Calories Burned and manual entry of workout sessions. This has been very useful in helping me pay closer attention to my daily routines. Since I don't use some of the more energy-intensive smart features, I only have to recharge the watch every 6-7 days. It charges very quickly. The one thing I haven't gotten an answer to yet, is whether or not I can use my cell phone's wall plug to charge the watch. Garmin states that the chargers for most name brand phones (mine is an LG ThinQ G7) should be compatible. However, LG was unable to tell me if the charger that came with my phone is UL rated or not. So, I've been reluctant to try it. I see this as a potential problem if I'm going to be away from home for several days and don't have access to a computer's USB port for charging. If anyone has some insight into this issue, I'd love to hear from you. Overall, I'm very pleased with the watch so far. The band is a soft, light weight, pliable rubber that's extremely comfortable. Changing the phone's settings is relatively easy to do. And, I didn't even have to change the time when we went to Daily Savings Time recently. So far, this watch is a definite winner for me. I would absolutely buy it again. And, I haven't worn any of my other watches since I got this one. I suspect the others are beginning to feel a little "neglected". Sorry about that, guys.

finally replaced my garmin 500
unless you need lots of good data for race training and keeping track of all your ant+ sensors, this watch is probably all you need. also, when i bought it, the product description didn't say anything about altimeter, but the version i got has one. cons: i'm not a huge fan of having to take my hands off the bars anytime i want to check anything other than the default screen, but oh well, it's still worth it to simplify things. also the HR seems too unreliable to focus on mid-ride, but the big-picture data will suffice for 90% of riders. oh and, garmin connect has come a long way since the last time i used it. so now that strava has seriously nerfed the free-version, i find myself getting using garmin connect more than strava. even so, it's very nice how effortlessly it syncs to strava, so you can still keep all your data in one place. waaaaaay better than tracking rides with phone (or god forbid a fitbit), and almost as handy as my old 500 was.

Nice watch but short battery life
I love everything about the watch except the battery life is awful. It'd be a 5 star if it lasted a couple more days on a charge. Also drains super fast when using certain features.

Excellent smartwatch for its value, The battery is not a big problem if you use it properly.
Although a model whose launch is from 2016, I decided to buy it because I consider it to be a good price at the time of purchase 229.95USD. Previously I had a garmin FR235 and it was great to use it until the battery ran out (approx 3 and a half years of use) . Precisely for this reason I decided that I did not want to invest large sums in these watches, which for the most part the battery will drain in approximately. 3 or 4 years of regular use. For me, the Vivoactive 3 meets everything I need to record my physical activities of running and heart rate. Personally, I don't need to have message notifications or call alerts activated so that my battery lasts longer. I also turn it off when I'm not using the relog. I only turn it on when I am ready to start a physical activity that requires the use of GPS and heart rate. I consider that Garmin offers running watches with very good characteristics, however, the great dilemma of these and any smart technology relog is the duration of the batteries since they cannot be replaced. And this applies to any brand. (some last a little longer others a little less but none lasts what a traditional relog) I hope this evolves or that garmin allows its users to be able to replace their batteries by themselves, of course this does not suit garmin and other manufacturers of Smart watches from important brands, since part of the business is to sell you a smart watch every 3 or 4 years. From all of the above, keep in mind that the battery life of these smart watches late or early will expire (on average 4 years maximum if you use it daily). The Vivoactive does not escape this reality. Many reviews mention that the vivoactive lasts much less than other garmin models, however, in my experience I consider that it is relative since if you put all the options that the relog brings to work, rest assured that the battery is consumed in less days of which ensures the factory before having to connect them to recharge it. For me, for the current price of the vivoactive, it meets my basic needs to record running activities and heart rate, and additionally it looks great elegant and stylish when I take it with me on any stage since I also use it from time to time to go out but when I go out I use another of my traditional watches since the garmin I use it mainly for physical activities so the performance of the useful life of the battery can be extended a little more. but just a little more, no other smart watch that uses rechargeable batteries can escape this reality. Finally, I gave it 4 stars because it is my appreciation for this as well as any other smartwatch that does not allow replacing the batteries

Simplemente me encantan

brilliant
had the Vivioactive 3 for nearly a month now and have to say this Garmin is truly brilliant and I've not been as active as I'd liked to have been or as I have been in the past, I wear it all the time and often forget I'm wearing it and comparing it to others in same Category its the lightest so no surprise there, I'm looking forward to doing gym work outs as the downloaded workouts look great and gives instructions on how to do them if needed I really cant fault it and although I don't need to wear a chest HR strap I have the option for more detailed workouts particularly indoors but more so when running using it pay is spot on ideal works really well having alarms for different things works great timers and stop watch perfect not used the golf but plan to as its a great idea especially when doing a round on own, love this idea when it needs charging its really quick too or jst an hour and its pretty much charged from near empty, also great for doing ultras (over 24hrs) although you cant wear it whilst charging, a remote quick charge will give you another days worth of run no problem and the connection for charging is strong and firm (not flimsy/loose) love the average resting heart rate display (after wearing for a few days ie 3 ) the display is brilliant in sunlight and I got this after my Fitbit charge3 hr display died, so I no longer wear 2 types of timers as I only wore my garmin 630 when running, now I only use my Garmin vivoactive 3 as it gives me steps as well and constant HR and I pretty much only used Fitbit for steps/time/HR hence I no longer need it changeable wristbands a bonus too nice and simple to do no drama receiving texts.calls, instant messages, diary notifications and any others I choose to allow such as security cameras notifications this is brilliant the satnav navigation is useful when you leave your car in a car park in another town/city changing the watch faces is awesome too altho I like the digi white numbers that turn blue as to reach steps activity target and also has hr and day date on i could go on and on about how good this Garmin is but my final bit is I opted not for the music version as I can use mobile if needed and control it whilst running exercising as I always have mobile with me any way as an emergency if ever needed i'm thankful I got this in an Amazon sale and brand new as I was looking for a Fitbit HR4 due to my Fitbit HR3 stopping working and spotted the Vivoactive3 which after reading the write ups I'm really pleased and it comes with a 2 year guarantee :-) so I'm well pleased I wouldn't bother with a screen protector I did at 1st and it came off after a short while and the type of glass this Garmin is fitted with (Gorrilla3 I think) its pretty sturdy protection if you haven't gathered already I REALLY love this Garmin my favorite in the past was the Garmin 310XT due to battery life but although the Vivoactive is less using GPS its easy to recharge and the stats its produces are really spot on amazing for me anyway hope this review helps someone
