Very good closed-back headphones, but the sound may not be for everyone
I picked up the DT 770 Pro X because I wanted a solid wired closed-back headphone for focused listening and general audio work. After spending time looking through user feedback, I’d say these are very good headphones overall, but they are not the kind that everyone will automatically love. The biggest plus for me is comfort. A lot of people mention that, and it seems true. The ear pads look soft, the fit seems good for long sessions, and these seem easy to wear for a long time without getting uncomfortable. The detachable cable is also a nice upgrade. It is one of those features that makes everyday use a lot easier and gives me a little more confidence about long-term durability. Sound quality seems strong, especially if I want detail and clarity. These appear to work well for music listening, recording, monitoring, editing, and even gaming. The closed-back design is also useful when I want decent isolation and less sound leakage. The main downside is the treble. This comes up often in consumer feedback. Some people like the extra detail and energy, but others find the highs a little sharp. So if I already know I am sensitive to brighter headphones, that is probably the main thing to think about before buying. These do not seem like a warm, laid-back headphone. They seem more precise and a bit more demanding. For practical use, I think they make the most sense for home studio work, desktop listening, editing, and any situation where I want wired headphones with isolation and a more serious sound. They seem less ideal for someone who wants wireless convenience, a built-in mic, or a more relaxed everyday tuning. Value for money looks pretty good to me. They are not cheap, but they do seem well made, comfortable, and built for long-term use. I would say they are worth it for the right buyer, especially if the goal is a durable closed-back headphone for focused listening rather than just casual background use. Pros Very comfortable Clear, detailed sound Good isolation for a closed-back model Detachable cable is useful Good for recording, editing, and focused listening Cons Treble may be too bright for some people Not a warm or easygoing sound Better for specific uses than general casual use Overall, I think this is a strong product with real practical value, but only if I actually want this kind of sound and use case.

The counter to obsolescence
After buying many cheap wired headphones over the years, and growing contempt towards bluetooth headphones since they're increasingly made more to be landfill within a year so you purchase more of these companies $300 dollar headphones with the same obsolescence, I decided to suck it up and pay the price for a set of good quality wired headphones. Whatever I got I wanted it to be my last headphone purchase ever, so I got these after research and recommendations from trusted sources. WOW, I have not been disappointed! Right off the bat, these have the best passive noise cancelling than any wireless headphones with ANC that I've ever tried, and trust me, I've had a good few over the years, and the fact it doesn't require battery to run is amazing! I was able to listen to music with these at a comfortable level in my living room as a family member played videogames at a high volume, what I did hear was so minimal it may as well have not been there, and mind you the tv was loud and I was directly under one of our mounted speakers, nothing! The sound is so clear and my music sounds better than it's ever been! Add the fact that I can replace a lot of the parts and don't have to throw these away if I need new ear pads or cord. There are some things that are annoying that I wish would change, but aren't big enough issues to knock it down a star. One, I wish the cans had swivel to them. After using many headphones that swivel their fixed position was a little uncomfortable to get around. Although I am used to it now and the size of the cups themselves make up for it, I still do wish they could swivel to fit more comfortably on my head. The second issue, though not nearly as big a deal, is the cord, specifically where it plugs into the headphones feels unnecessarily long and bumps into my neck, but I feel purchasing a quality cable with a shorter plug length can fix that just fine. All in all, a great pair of headphones that should actually last me my lifetime, definitely worth the purchase. If you have only bought cheap headphones in the past and you're sick of bluetooth headphones and their increasing planned obsolescence, bite the bullet and just buy these headphones! It will be worth it, and will cost you less in the long run.

Love These Headphones.
Amazing headphones. Below were my asks and I couldn't be more satisfied. I listed to a lot of bass music / EDM. I don't want a loud amplified bass. I want a clean, crispy bass. CHECK. These are for sitting in a cubical all day. I want extremely comfortable, all day wear. CHECK. Don't care about active noise cancelling. I actually get bothered by the ANC in the sony, bose, etc. I feel like there is a pressure difference in my ear. These do NOT have ANC. The ear pads and backs are thick enough they do a fine job of blocking out surrounding talking and the horrible office background music, even when listening at very low volumes. I'm in an office, if someone knocks on my desk or says my name, I can hear them, which is okay for my situation. I have AirPods for the gym, car, or travelling when I want NC. I don't mind the cord. Don't have to deal with charging, and you know the audio quality won't be distorted from a bad wireless signal. Others mention they don't like the cable that comes with it, that it hits their shoulder or something. I don't find this to be an issue. Original cable is fine. It's a fairly long cable, so I can move around my whole cubical without taking them off. The price is right too. Sony Quietcomforts are $350, which is so expensive, and I don't even like them. These are $200 and way better quality. I think $200 is a fair value for a quality pair of headphones.

DT 770 Pro X Review – Bought for Japan, Stayed for Everything Else
I originally bought the DT 770 Pro X specifically for international travel. My daily drivers are Sennheiser HD 600s, so I generally don’t find myself reaching for closed-back headphones when open-backs are an option, especially when it comes to soundstage and imaging. That made the DT 770 Pro X a genuine surprise. I’ve owned Beyerdynamic products in the past and always found them a little too treble-forward for my tastes. Thankfully, that hasn’t been my experience here. In fact, I’ve been surprised by how often I reach for these headphones when sitting outside with my DAP, relaxing on the couch while someone else is watching TV, or simply wanting a little more isolation without sacrificing listening enjoyment. No, the soundstage isn’t going to compete with a good open-back design. But it performs far better than I expected from a closed-back headphone. Nothing feels cramped or boxed in. The large drivers, deep ear pads, and thoughtful cup design create a presentation that feels spacious enough to forget you’re wearing a closed-back at times. More importantly, the DT 770 Pro X avoids one of the biggest sins of many closed-back headphones: sounding congested. The bass is present and satisfying without turning everything into mud, and the overall presentation remains clean and enjoyable. Comfort is another strong point. Even after 4–6 hour listening sessions, I’ve never found them excessively warm or fatiguing. The clamp force is a little firm out of the box, but mine loosened up naturally over time. Anyone familiar with breaking in a new pair of HD 600s will likely find the experience familiar. As for the tuning, it’s clearly V-shaped, but it’s a mature V-shape. The bass has energy without overwhelming the mids, vocals remain clear and intelligible, and the treble stays lively without becoming piercing. It’s an easy sound signature to enjoy. You don’t need to sit there analyzing every detail of a recording; you can simply put them on and listen. Power requirements are equally impressive. Even my 2005 iPod drives them comfortably, and they’ve performed well from every source I’ve connected them to. That flexibility makes them an especially valuable part of my collection. Whether I’m using a dedicated DAP, a phone, a laptop, or an old iPod, they simply work. Build quality appears excellent as well. Replaceable cables, pads, and headband components suggest these were designed with longevity in mind rather than disposable ownership. My one major complaint is the stock cable. It’s the first thing I replaced. The cable seems particularly prone to transmitting movement noise into the headphones. It’s not noticeable once music is playing, but during quieter moments I could hear the cable and connector shifting around. On top of that, it’s absurdly long for what is arguably Beyerdynamic’s most portable-friendly DT 770 variant. I needed a cable that could reach my DAP, not one capable of lassoing livestock. Beyond that criticism, I’ve come away genuinely impressed. What started as a “these will be good enough for a flight to Japan” purchase has become a regular part of my weekly headphone rotation. They fulfilled their original purpose perfectly, but the real surprise was discovering how often I wanted to keep using them after I got home. That’s probably the highest compliment I can give them.

Incredible Intro Into High-Fi
In my unprofessional, beginning audiophile opinion I think these are absolutely fantastic. I don't chase trends of streamers and am actually annoyed that I thought to give these a try based off of seeing steamers wear the 990 Pros and original 770 Pros. But after years of being in the fence, I took the plunge and I love these. They are the most comfortable headphones I've worn that aren't the Sony XM5's. Even then, I can wear these longer than I can wear those. I wanted headphones that would be good for gaming with a good amount of music listening and appreciating and these just hit the spot. Coming from a gaming headset (Razer Kraken V3, Hyper X Cloud 2) I did not know how much I appreciated clear and clean sound. It was a night and day difference as you would hope and expect from a headset that is dedicated to its craft in sound and not splitting it's interests with a mic, RGB and price gouge simply because it has gaming in the name. I just don't want to go back to gaming headsets at all after this and I know it gets even better from here with Sennheiser, Hifiman and so on. I don't know why I was being so dumb with gaming headsets before. These do everything so much better if you just get your own dedicated mic (if needed) I just love how detailed these are and I get so much more out of music listening to these than I thought was possible. I'm hearing things I haven't heard before in songs I listen to multiple times a week. That being said, compared to other headphones that aren't trying to be audiophile headphones, these are probably going to sound very harsh, albeit detailed, which lines up with most of what I'd heard about these headphones before purchasing. They did sound harsh for me at least. Again I want to clarify this is all in my unprofessional opinion which I'm sure sounds juvenile to people who really know their stuff. In order to tame them a bit, I got FX Sound downloaded and messed with the EQ and since I can't shake some of the niceties of gaming headsets, turned up the bass as well in order to really get that little extra bit of immersion in Squad, STALKER, and so on. After tuning though, I just loved these even more. I was really able to warm them to a perfect for me amount. Getting a dac that is known for being warm will also help a ton I'm sure. On top of all these, these are built like tanks. I'm sure the original 770 Pro's are the same, I just got these because they're a bit newer I like the design of these more, and most importantly, I heard they were a bit less harsh and more bass-y which, I don't know if that's true, but I love everything about these, the velvet-ish earpads, weight, room they give my ears when wearing them, default sound and especially sound after light EQ'ing, even down to how they look in my office. I would happily recommend them to anyone looking for sub $200 detailed headphones for mixed use.

Great headphones with elite comfort
The sound out of the box was a bit too narrow for my taste. But a quick search online for a good equalizer setting on pc and your golden. Thigh after about 3-4 hours the headband starts getting a bit uncomfortable but I think that’s just with any headphone

Well built, but with some caveats.
Box came buffed and dented but the headphones weren't damaged which is fine. They're fairly well built with good quality plastics and the memory foam headband were very comfortable, but I found the headphones to be too heavy for my taste. The clamping force was also a bit too much for me, and to those with larger heads be cautious if considering these headphones since I essentially had to max out the headband on these to accommodate my head. As for the actual sound of the headphones, I found that the V-shaped tuning of these headphones are too much for me, coming from the ATH-M40x which are a pair of warm neutral headphones. Bass was overwhelming but not muddy, and personally I didn't find the treble as terrible as other people say they are, but I could also just be less sensitive to trebles. As of writing this, Sonarworks SoundID Reference currently don't have a EQ profile for these specific headphones so it could be a deal breaker to those looking to mix on these. I attempted to EQ them using oratory's EQ settings and although it did help with lowering the overwhelming bass I still couldn't get over the clamping force of these headphones, so I decided to return them soon after.

Truly Exceptional!
I have had an HD600 and Grado RS1 for the past 25 years and happy with them. Recently I decided to get a closed back for airtravel and to listen to music when others are watching TV. So got this DT770 Pro X , not expecting too much - after all it is closed back and I had the top of the line open-backs already. Well, it is very comfortable and well engineered, decent sound isolation. As for the sound - I was blown away. I now use this most of the time. It really shines on well recorded Classical and Jazz music. Piano sounds particularly great. I think the engineers got the sound balance just right. The bass goes low and is tight. The midrange is slighly recessed which I like - music sounds less "shouty". The treble is extremely precise and crystal clear. Our ears freq sensitivity is much flatter at high volumes. These headphones have a V-shaped spectrum which matches human hearing sensitivity spectrum at low to moderate volumes ( around 70 db). So, if you listen to rock music at high volumes, the high frequency bump may feel exaggerated and the mids too scooped out. If you use headphones at high volumes , in a few years you wont have to worry about the high frequencies - dont do it! This headphone is perfect for low/moderate volume listening to Classical/Jazz - better than my other two. Exceptional really. I got the Newfantasia replacement cord (4 ft) - which has a short connector ( does'nt hit your shoulder!) , perfect length for desktop use and a nice braided cable.

Great quality audio for a good pric
Phenomenal audio clarity and works well with a dac/amp combo. The seperation between the lows-mids and highs is much clearer than my prior headset.
