I've bought this before but this time it was extreme!y salty...ruined the steaks i was marinating.bad batch or is this now seasoned tenderizer?

McCormick Culinary Unseasoned Meat Tenderizer does contain salt; 400mg of sodium per 1/4 teaspoon serving. Do not add salt when using this product. Our Seasoned Meat Tenderizer is made with a premium blend of spices like paprika, onion and celery.  ~ Erica

Not quite like table sale and sugar.  There are 4 ingredients to this unseasoned tenderizer: Salt, Dextrose, Bromelain, and Calcium Silicate.  The first two ingredients are salt (natural tenderizer) and Dextrose is from the sugar family…but more similar to glucose sugars.  Bromelain is an anti-inflammatory agent.  When these ingredients are blended in the McCormick unseasoned tenderizer, they are more of a powder than granular of sat and sugar.  You’re also free to add your own kind of seasoning, if desired while using this product…but if your concerns are doubling up on the salt and sugar…then I suggest monitoring the other ingredients.  Always keep in mind, from the first ingredient to the last ingredient found on the package, the first has the heighest ratio, while the last has the lowest.  This is an FDA label regulation when it comes to ingredients.
