Could this be used in a drawer that is going to be left closed for a while? Or does it have to be hanging to work properly?

Yes, it needs to be vertie to work properly. Search and there is a small version that will sit flat in a drawer. I bought them to put in my vehicles to keep moisture content down. They really do work

Breakage of hanging bags. Does it happen often? How safe are they?

The bag can get too full and burst if banged against. Hang where nothing will interfere with it. Did stain some bed sheets.

Can this be used in a car? I know it says not to be used in moving vehicle but I don’t see why it caned be used.

Would this be something I could use in a pet room to help with the odor?
