Is the seat extender made of foam?

No it is canvas with a removable insert that is probably made with covered cardboard. I’ve used the compartments inside to store leases, food etc. I’ve traveled thousands of miles with two 50lb dogs in the back seat with these. I do put a pillow in the center between each well in my SUV because it did have a break between the two extenders.

What are the dividers made of that provide the structure and support for the extender? I'm hoping this is sturdy enough for a 90 lb. dog.

I’m not sure the exact material..but my dog is 75 pounds and it works very well for him. It’s quite sturdy!

I need instructions for this item, I am unable to put it together, I think missing some parts, can you help?

I purchased this item a few years ago and I do not recall how it went together but I seem to recall it was basically easy to put together. I am sorry I can't be of more help. After it is together it sort of looks like a box and there is storage space inside of it.

Does this fold down for storing?

it comes disassembled. you have to put the bottom liner and the walls in yourself. everything is attached with velcro. if you take them out it folds down flat and you can store it in your car or wherever you want it. hope that helps.
