What makes gives this milk the abiliity to sit on the shelf without being in cold refrigerator?? Why does't it get sour like other milk?

Does Horizon organic single serve milk need refrigeration? Single serve milk is packaged in individual aseptic containers and will keep at room temperature, unopened, until the date code. This extended shelf life is possible due to ultra-high temperature (UHT) pasteurization.

How does the vanilla flavored milk taste compared to the cold fresh milk at the supermarket?

The vanilla milk is sweet, think chocolate milk only with vanilla. They also have a regular milk, no flavoring, that when chilled tastes the same as when bought from the store. We buy Horizon Organic at the store and order the individuals for traveling or lunches. Regardless which we are drinking, we always do so chilled. (Unless we’ve made it into hot cocoa, then we drink it hot of course). If you buy Horizon at the store you won’t be disappointed in this.

Can these be frozen? They'd keep lunch food cold and be thawed and ready to drink at lunchtime. Has anyone had success with this?

I have never frozen it but I would guess it is like freezing regular milk. Sometimes it takes some of the flavor away. Also it is in a container so it may puncture if it expands.
