Product Description Internationally acclaimed yoga instructor Rodney Yee guides a two-part programme of supported yoga poses and breathing techniques to bring the body and mind to a state of stillness. Part one, 'Conscious Relaxation' includes poses that help you access your own inner resources for healing. These poses prepare you for part two, 'Conscious Breathing', guided yoga breathing techniques that help create an overall sense of well-being. You can practice either together or separately. .com The importance of the breath is familiar to anyone who practices yoga, as is its significance in the pursuit of a deeper, more meditative state. But it never hurts to be reminded of that connection, especially as yoga's growing popularity has turned it in a more active, less contemplative direction. The title of this DVD program pretty much describes the content; it consists of two approximately 30-minute sections, one ("Conscious Relaxation") devoted to several easy, relaxation-inducing poses and the other ("Conscious Breahing") focusing entirely on the breath itself. (Also included are an 8-minute "guided meditation" and an interview with instructor Rodney Yee.) It's unlikely that you'll break a sweat, and you won't "go for the burn," as yoga practitioners seem intent on doing these days--but you might reach a place of stillness that's considerably more profound. Note: The use of certain props (mat, blanket, pillow, chair) is recommended. --Sam Graham

Great for release and relaxation
Outstanding guded relaxation and breathing for stress release. With a home BP monitor my blood pressure can be reduced from 20 to 40 points after using this DVD. I start at the Relaxation Pose (prone position) and continue on to all of the breathing exercises for a great 40 minutes of relaxation. I know nothing of Yoga and there are no cross legged positions in this, though Rodney Yee does use them, they are not a part of the routines. The person who said there are no sub menus must be referring to the VHS tape (which I have) because the DVD has an excellent series of menus and sub menus and you can start exactly where you want. Have no difficulty with focus as another reviewer does, besides, once you've run through the DVD once for a visual, you have your eyes closed all the time anyway.

Very relaxing and helpful
Based on where I work, I don't have the opportunity to attend classes in a yoga studio often. So I practice through many of Rodney Yee's DVDs. I decided on this one to assist in my maturation process. It is great for those days when you just need to relax, restore, and need a guiding hand through relaxing, breathing, and meditation. I also wanted to experience different methods for relaxation and breathing and to start to get more serious about meditation. Definitely worth it. Another great Rodney Yee effort that beginners can use and for anyone just looking for some different techniques with which to relax. One doesn't have to do all of it either. You can do each section alone or together and the 10 minute "bonus" guided meditation is great for someone who needs a place to start meditation.

my favorite video for meditation and relaxation
This is a wonderful video. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to pursue relaxation/meditation for stress reduction, reduction in blood pressure, etc. Recommend starting with the conscious breathing portion of the DVD. It is done in the lying position, and therefore it is extremely easy to relax and follow the guided breathing, It feels wonderful. I think it is easier to start in the lying position, because so many people are uncomfortable in seated cross legged positions typical for meditation, due to back or hip tightness. After the conscious breathing section, move on to the conscious relaxation sections- you can find which postures are most relaxing/meditative for you. This tape is not philosophical or eastern in it's orientation (not that that is good or bad.) You do not need the props indicated, just find a carpeted surface and enjoy.

Uplifting, yet fast
I purchased this item to help aid in relaxation and possibly ease stress. I found that the video was very easy to understand and I really enjoyed it. However, I do think that Rodney went too fast in the different sections of the tape. A section would start off fine, but then I had to pay attention because he was already at the next scene/pose. Over all, the tape did exactly as it said. I still will do the tape and I am sure that with a period of time doing the tape, I won't have to feel like I'm playing catch up. I guess I just need to learn the tape. :)

Just what I was looking for
Yes! This is exactly what I was looking for. After three years of battling Cancer, I have noticed that my breathing has become very shallow, and sometimes I stop breathing for more seconds than is healthy. I felt the need to be taught to breath or be aware of my breath, and I find this DVD fits the bill perfectly.I enjoy the pace, the sound of Rodney Yee's voice, the exercises. I hope soon to master my breathing, and thus, feed my cells with oxygen, which in turn will hopefully keep my Cancer at bay.I highly recommend this DVD to anyone who would like to learn to breath, for relaxation, stress relief and any other kind of healing.

Not Experienced Enough
I purchased this DVD several months ago. I found the positions to be too dificult for me to do. I tried to get into it, but eventually gave up. I found the positions were not explained well enough for a beginner to perform. The location where this was filmed was pretty, looks like Joshua Tree. I am currently taking a beginning yoga class where I can ask questions and not attempt to try something that could end up not being beneficial.

BREATHE .... RELAX ..... FEEL .... WATCH .... ALLOW
In my humble estimation, this is one of the best of Rodney Yee. Be ye new to Yoga or just initiating your SEARCH, this quality produced dvd will provide you with a great intro to meditation and breath work.Rodney will easily guide you through the process and belive me this is one powerful experience. If there ever was an ANSWER to "today's world situation" the practice of yoga, breath work and meditation will certainly point you in the right direction and hopefully a "path to spiritual, emotional and even physical health".This is one of the best ....
