Yes it will, it does not have any drain holes in the bottom. I drilled my own in it in case it was rained into if the lid was off etc.

Has anyone tried using this to make a rolling compost bin? Wondering if the lid will stay on and if the plastic will hold up if rolled on its side.

you could, the lid locks on but you'd have to drill holes for drainage and limited on how much you have in it at a time. A can designed for composting would be a lot heavier and more sturdy for bigger loads

Is it chew proof for squirrels ?

It is a heavy gauge durable plastic. But I don't know if anything is chew-proof, it depends how many squirrels you got and how dedicated they are. Their teeth would leave scratches, but I don't think they could get in very easy.

Do you know where to purchase a replacement lid?

Your best bet might be walmart... they sell this can... not sure about lid only.... walmart sells the can for $15 ish. Amazon does not sell the lid only
