Even elementary school children can build positive character traits like caring, citizenship, cooperation, courage, fairness, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The true stories, inspiring quotations, thought-provoking dilemmas, and activities in this book help kids grow into capable, moral teens and adults. Previously titled Being Your Best , this award-winning book has a fresh new cover and updated resources. Review: Great for cultivating principle-centred leadership in kids... - This book is very well presented and organised with an attractive non-gender based cover. I red it with my 10 year old daughter, the inventory questionaires are easy to use and helped hone in the most pertanant character traits to begin exploring and building on. Kids learn by example and role modeling; it was great to have stories in this text from other kids exemplifying how they recognised a particular trait, opportunities that allowed them to expand on and demonstrate that trait and some peer tips of how others can build this trait. I really dont think I have anything negative to review about this product, the language is child oriented, complex words are defined, and the focus really is about developing a strong inner principle based character within your child as opposed to say gimmicky 'personality training to win people over'. The effects of developing a character of honesty, loyalty, caring, citizenship etc will echo long into adulthood... Review: Good Tool~ - I bought this hoping to teach my 7 year old better character traits and because she has a natural love for reading. My husband and I had never received such formal instruction on character and we both find ourselves listening in. It gives each chapter a trait with the definition, stories, and how to apply it. Plus critical thinking questions. It is a little hard for my 7 year old with some of the larger words and she is a very skilled reader for her age. Most often we do it together, one chapter a week. Then we keep it part of our discussion that week as we experience situations to use each trait.

Can you afford not to buy this book?
I bought this for my teenage son that has many character deficits. I made him summarize every paragraph in the book(in his own written words). He has made character improvements and is striving to be a man of good character. This book may have given him the edge he needs in the ever more competitive job market were good qualities become marketable. This is due to the study showing that 70% of children age 17 and younger feel that the only way to be successful in business is to lie, cheat, and swindle. I highly recommend and encourage others to make this purchase and actually USE IT for their childrens future. Survey found in: O.C Ferrell Society and Business Ethics 2011

Great book!
I had my 5th grade son read this book as his punishment for receiving a failing grade in language arts. He had to read one character trait per night and summarize the character trait the following day using all correct punctuation, spelling, etc. After much protesting he has completed 2 character traits and he is currently reading 2 more on his own without prompting! He is learning on his own and understands the material he is reading. I think this book so far has served its purpose.
