Bosch DLE 40 Professional Laser Rangefinder

Quality product that does exactly what it promises. Very simple to use. Accuracy and repeatability seems to be very good and you can measure up a job for materials in a fraction of the time it would take using a steel tape. I still use a tape before cutting any timber etc., but for many jobs the accuracy is sufficient and much better than the old ultrasonic type..The rangefinder will measure in metric or imperial, and will calculate areas and volumes in addition to linear measurements. It will also measure from either the front or back of the device, selectable by a button.I haven't used it outdoors very much, so I'm unable to comment on whether the target spot is visible in average light - however, if you are reasonably accurate in the direction you point it, the rangefinder will still work in full sunlight - you just won't see the spot. Red laser-viewing glasses are available at extra cost if this could be an issue.The rangefinder feels robust and has rubber pads for a better grip. There is provision for one of the camera-type lanyards at one end, but no lanyard is supplied and it isn't documented in the instructions. Nevertheless it IS there and may save the unit from being dropped on site.A simple soft case is supplied which has a belt loop.

I bought this specifically for one project - the site survey of a 40 room institution and grounds. I was working alone, so a 30m measuring tape and a 5m retractable and 2m rod were out of the question. The rangefinder arrived within 2 days leaving me with a day to master it (it only took an hour.)If I didn't have this tool I would have had to employ someone to assist. I have now completed all the survey drawings and checked them incrementally against overall sizes compiled with the 30m tape and the entire survey is accurate to +/- 5mm.The construction of the building is complex, relying on pinpoint accuracy to replicate and this tool provided that seamlessly, easily and precisely. I have never relied upon electronic tools in the past, but I would certainly use this one with confidence for every project in the future.

This is a really good unit. It is very easy to use, logical, intuitive functionality & controls. We have checked the measurements with a tape measure and it seems very accurate & versatile. Can be used in a lot more situations than you would expect. It is very lightweight and compact but has everything you need. I purchased it for my letting and management agency and it will get a lot of use. Ultimately, good price, good name, good product, what more can you ask for.

Accurate and easy to use but a bit of nuisance having to keep checking the screen to check mode. But this will come easier when more used to it.My one niggle which would have given it a fifth star is no backlight. I was using it under floors and had to bring it out into daylight to read it.Otherwise a good solid feel to it and I like it.

I bought this to replace a cheap ultrasonic range finder which was totally unreliable and really useless. This is a totally different beast. Accurate to within a few millimeters it is truly useful. I have used it extensively renovating a house and it is invaluable. It is pretty small, fits in a jeans pocket (just) and works very quickly. It will even work off glass or outdoors over long distances (50ft +) in daylight although the laser dot can be hard to see in that situation. The area and volume functions work quickly and easily. Only criticism would be the symbols on some of the keys are a bit cryptic and the manual isn't great.

Ive resisted this technology for years in favour of my trusty tape - not any more, this is a great bit of kit and I wouldn't be without it now. Well worth the money. Just goes to show that even after 32 years measuring and planning kitchens, you are ever too old to learn new tricks!

Used this to measure up a new house that we are buying. Very effective and MUCH faster than using a tape measure - and could use it on my own, so didn't need anyone else to hold the end of the tape. Only problem was that it was difficult to see the laser spot when using it to measure the back garden, but I found that the best approach was to start as close to the fence as I needed to be to see the laser and then walk backwards, watching the spot carefully. As long as I didn't blink, I was OK! It did impress me though, that I could get accurate measurements even from a rough garden fence.

Expensive ?,yes in comparison to other models/brands but well worth it.Robust,comfortable in your hand and so easy to use.One hand use once mode has been set just point and hit target then press button a second time,repeat and calculation is done.Time saving,no tape rule,no adding the measurement of each wall to the previous one its all done for you.Cant comment on battery life haven't had it long enough.Dont know why I didn't have one before.If your tiling walls,floors or cladding Daly this is a must.There are more expensive ones on the market but this does all you need.
