This has been a very impactful find for me. It very definitively enforces nose breathing and has been very helpful in reducing the incidence of sleep apnea for me. I was ready to try mouth tape, but I imagined that being problematical in a number of ways. (I have a modest beard.) On the negative side: the flexible silicon plate that fits behind the lips and in front of the teeth was giving me a fair amount of discomfort because it seemed to dig down into my gums at the bottom corners. I was about to try trimming the device to make it shallower on the bottom when I discovered that one side of it is *slightly* shallower already than the other. There's a small notch on the top side, but I don't recall anything in the documentation that said anything about the orientation being important (and it looks symmetrical unless you look quite closely). Anyway, I started making a point of keeping the notched side up, and it is indeed given me less problems. The package includes two versions of the device: a black one with an attached cord, and a white one without. The docs say use the black one for sleeping and the white one only for practicing while awake. But they seem identical except for a holed nub on the black one that permits affixing the cord. Seems to me that they could just give you two of the night-ready ones instead of making you pay 20 bucks for, effectively, one device. I contacted with to ask whether there was any other difference between the two guards than the cord attachment nub, and I never got a response. Having said all that, though: the device is the most effective, and cost-effective thing I've found for reducing sleep apnea. I tried several radically different styles of oral appliances and a CPAP machine. All started, and stayed, uncomfortable and sleep-disturbing. Just now I'm experimenting with a chin strap in combination with a conventional athletic teeth guard. That is showing some promise as well. But this device has been the greatest and most immediate bang-for-buck winner.

It is a waste of money and it cannot be returned. I realize in the fine print it says you can return eligible items within a certain time frame, but apparently this item is not eligible. I keep my mouth open at night so when I wake up in the morning it's very dry. I'm a CPAP user but I had the inspire therapy implanted about 6 months ago. It works great. The inspire therapy but I still drop my mouth open at night and wake up with very dry mouth and throat. This item did not work for me. I could not keep my lips closed over the mouthpiece when I put it in my mouth. I have excessive saliva production and drooling and I feel like I can't swallow. I only tried it one night. It was horrible. My jaw was actually sore the next morning from trying to make it comfortable in my mouth. Thank goodness it's only $15.99. I have tried other mouth guards and things like that which had similar issues. At least I got a refund for those and I didn't even have to send them back to the company. Good luck!

My Airsense 11 was showing about 25 AHI / hr and I spent days where all I could do was sleep. My CPAP therapist did a completely inadequate job. All they ever told me was I "needed an in-clinic sleep study." That may be ultimately necessary, but I knew I had to take my therapy under my control first. After getting the OSCAR app, I could see the relationship between large air leaks and serious sleep anomalies including Cheyne-Stokes respiration and various other type of apneas leading to awakening removal of the mask. Because my mouth would be quite dry in the morning, I knew I was sleeping with my mouth open. I tried mouth tape for a few nights, but found it completely unnatural. I wouldn't even consider a chin strap. But after using this device for two nights, my AHI is down to *** FIVE *** and my mouth is no longer dry. I had a few major concerns regarding this device: It would be awkward or uncomfortable, but that is not the case at all. It would cause excessive salivation, but after just a few hours of use during the day, I adjusted completely. That I would have problems with a stuffy nose not allowing enough air i.e. I needed to mouth breathe, but with the nasal mask, that was not the case. Finally, I was concerned that I would not be able to wear my night guard on my lower teeth, but surprisingly, it actually made the breathing device more comfortable as it no longer touched my lower gums or inner mouth. I use a saline spray to clear my nostrils before bed, and also use fluticasone. If the device gets a funky smell, I advise using an alcohol free xylitol mouthwash to kill bad bacteria. That cleared up all morning odors from my mouth guard. Honestly, this is a life changer for me.

I had high hopes for this but have only used a handful of times. I honestly do not know why they include the cordless one because I only need to stop mouth breathing when I sleep. I suppose there are people who may want or need to use it during the day, but can't imagine why. Did Invisalign braces a couple years ago & found this devise similar sensation but much more annoying to wear. The cord on the nighttime black one is terribly annoying. Been using nose/mouth CPAP since 2014, so this addition added more aggravation to my sleep. I don't always mouth breathe during sleep, but lately getting stuffed up nose congestion, so have gone back to mouth tape. Don't know if I will ever bother wear this thing again, definitely will not use the daytime white devise. I suppose for some folks this may be a great thing unless, like me, also use a CPAP when sleeping. I got used to full mask CPAP & only now & then does it bother, annoy & disrupt my sleep, but adding this device has been a no-go for me.

Changing my review was not a condition but I do want to give it more stars now, because even though the product didn't work for me, doesn't mean it won't work for somebody else. It's well-made product, by a small US business, and their goal is make customers happy. Which I am happy now, again. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I was searching for something else than a mouth tape (I used to love my PapMD tape, but it gave my lips some kid of allergy). I found this product and it sounded just perfect, so I got it. Unfortunately, nothing that it promised happened. I gave it a try for so many nights. Stopped, then started again. Always the same result. While the silicone is soft, and it may look like it's going to be like a nice adult pacifier, it is actually really uncomfortable in my mouth. Feels kind of too big, I cannot even close my lips, so suddenly my bottom lip/jaw is hanging who knows where. The lips get really dry and the inside of my mouth too (even though, it truly doesn't allow for mouth breathing). I could not get comfortable with that thing, waking up every 20 minutes and was so aware of the guard being there. Also, in the morning, when I took it out, it felt like my teeth were "hurting", sort of weird numbness on all my teeth. Maybe from the guard pushing against my teeth all the night? I don't know. I gave it a chance to get used to it, but it never got better. My mouth was drier than without using anything (tape or guard). Plus the falling jaw is not fun either. The tape was actually holding the lips/jaws nicely together. And lastly, you cannot return this product. So for that reason I felt compelled to write this review, it promises too much, doesn't deliver, and you cannot return it. Too bad, I wanted to like it because I like to support small businesses.

Another disappointing product.

More than to help with mouth breathing. The dentist advised me to get a mouth guard to prevent night grinding. I found that this is just enough to help me with that and bonus the wrinkles have reduced around my mouth. Apparently, i was pursing my lips or this guard is slightly stretching my upper lip and it has helped with that too. I can tell I was mouth breathing because when I don't wear the guard my mouth gets very dry, when I wear the guard I wake up without the dry mouth. I find the MEW X relatively comfortable. It just took a couple of nights to get accustomed to it. I did drool a bit the first 2 nights but that no longer occurs. I also like the fact that it is silicone, not plastic. With all the concerns about plastic in our environment, that is a big plus to me. This is a great product in many ways. Try it.

I’ve been sleeping with mouth tape for years. This is a great alternative. Only two quibbles: the neck cord is necessary in case the mouth guard falls out during the night, which does occur occasionally, but I find the cord, which runs down your chin and then around your neck, a bit uncomfortable. If you don’t wear it you might lose it in the bedding if it falls out. But these were only occasional issues, and getting a break from the mouth tape is probably worth it.

My nights are always better when using this mouthpiece.

This five cents of cheap plastic that sells for 25 bucks is a complete rip off. It is useless to stop mouth breathing, and just flops around and wakes you up more than the snoring. It is not even useful as a mouth guard. Do not buy.

After trying several kinds of mouth tape I stumbled across MEW-X and decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I did! This little device is comfortable to wear and very effective at keeping the air passage open. Way more convenient than the tape (and a million times more so than C-Pap) and now I don't wake myself up numerous times in the night snoring. I don't wake up with dry mouth anymore either. Oddly enough my nasal passages have become clearer both at night and during the day, an added bonus.

Didn’t work for me , just falls out , or gets dry

This is just a mouth guard , I paid 30 $+ for two plastic mouth guard no box just came in a bag with a cord , if you use this it’s just like a mouth guard , there is so much saliva build up , don’t how can you sleep , I’m scared this is actually going to choke you in sleep .
