I personally maintain our personal family home inground pool and we have the Hayward ProSeries S144T Filter. I don't understand why, when your pool guys are installing your brand new home pool, they somehow forget to tell you that the O-ring is the critical seal must-have part. If your guy didn't tell you this, then please allow me to give you a firsthand recommendation from a home pool owner of over 20 years. I picked this S144T replacement to ensure we had a fresh, tight seal for the season. The material has the right amount of flexibility and thickness, seating into the groove perfectly without stretching out or popping loose while I was trying to close the tank. This specific O-ring held the pressure immediately once the pump kicked on, with no leaks or seeping. It’s a high-quality, reliable part for our filter tank. Since I have changed from traditional sand to sand balls, we do things a little differently at the end of the summer season. As we prep our pool closing for the winter months, we remove, clean, and store the existing sand balls. While the tank is open, I’ve started removing the gasket, giving that a quick rinse as well, and then storing it just like I do with the sand balls. Why? I have learned through experience that taking the parts, including the sand balls, out of the tank prevents the elements from dry-rotting or losing its shape when the pool is closed. I also have noticed that by keeping this habit, I don't have to replace it nearly as often. The small amount of time I put into this every end of season has actually saved me quite a bit of money 💱
