what is the width and can it replace a 8 sprocket cassette?

The cassette is the same width as a 10 speed cassette. The cassette is really for a mountain bike, and will only fit a road 11 speed wheel with a spacer behind it. It WILL fit on a 10 speed wheel, (I HAVE tried this, as I have older 10 speed wheels to use), BUT the derailleur MUST be for an 11 speed cassette, and so must the shifter. As the 8 speed wheel freehub is the same width as both 9 AND 10 speed freehubs, it should fit, but the caveat of the rest of the system appleis. Also not, the the LONG cage version derailleur for 105 or above is required, and this requires a maximum fron difference of 16 teeth,
