Good value diamond paste
I do a fair amount of tool sharpening including knives, chisels, plane irons, etc. When it comes to refining an edge by removing a burr, it's hard to beat a strap loaded with Diamond paste. I have used just about every other type of option available, and this type of product is what I come back to every single time. I have multiple strops loaded with a succession of different grits and they make an enormous difference in the sharpness and longevity of a cutting edge. They are also quite useful for polishing just about any surface. The most important aspect of any Diamond pastes is the consistency of the grit. I selected the "3,000+5,000+14,000" grit product with a range of, 3-6/2-3/0-1 microns respectively, and specified a 50% Concentration. These numbers are right in line with what I would expect and tells me that the manufacturer is likely being honest by disclosing a range instead of omitting important details. If you are using these for stropping your steel, this is probably the most useful set. Anything coarser can be accomplished with a diamond plate and finer would be overkill for an edge. (FYI, I picked up a belt kit and glued strips of the leather, rough side up, to some twelve inch 2x4's for my strops. They work great!)Only time will tell how well this paste will fair, but I am confident that, when used appropriately, the product will do a good job. I actually have a selection of lapping pastes (some of which were surprisingly expensive) and buffing compounds with which to compare this, and will commit to reporting back if I see anything other than the expected performance. Otherwise, please assume that I am happy with the performance. As an aside: I feel compelled to mention that the promotional photos appear to show a phone lens which has been polished. While that may seem like a good idea, I would strongly suggest against doing so. The coating on a lenses is, among other things, used to selectively block certain frequencies of light. Removing them will almost certainly adversely impact your photos. Basically, it is a waste of your time and effort. While I enjoy shiny things just as much as the next person, I hate wasting my time as well and hopefully this will save you from doing so too!

Diamond paste kit affordably upgrades my stropping
I've grown dissatisfied using jeweler's green rouge for knife stropping: the chrome oxide abrasive breaks down immediately, and with repeated application the wax base gums up a suede leather strop. I ordered this diamond paste kit to improve my stropping capabilities. The 3000 grit paste is well suited for EDC knife stropping, and I'll reserve the 5000 grit paste for especially fine stropping. The 14000 grit paste is suitable for straight razor stropping; anybody who has shaved several times with a straight razor knows that smooth leather stropping does not maintain a straight razor's edge. And of course, these three pastes also permit polishing jewelry and glass objects.Diamond paste stropping required resurfacing my (not included) suede leather strop; I used 100 grit sandpaper to remove the wax-caked suede surface layer. I then twisted off the applicator's screw cap and applied about one-tenth of the 3000 grit paste to the resurfaced suede strop (see attached photo 1). The paste has a slight oily odor that IMO is not unpleasant. I used the knife blade like a spatula to spread the diamond paste over the suede strop before stropping the knife. Stropping a knife using this oil-based paste is very smooth (compared to stropping using wax-based jeweler's rouge). Attached photo 2 shows the strop and knife after stropping. Steel erosion during stropping darkens the diamond paste but the diamond paste does not break down, so a paste refresh is not necessary for each stropping new session and paste refreshes consume less additional paste. Residual paste wipes off the knife blade with cloth or a paper towel, and the stropped knife blade is noticeably sharp.Having three different diamond paste grades complicates stropping: mixing pastes would degrade the finer grits. My solution is having a (not included) second leather strop for the 5000 and 14000 grit pastes; I apply the 5000 grit paste to the second strop's suede side and apply the 14000 grit to the second strop's smooth side. That provides stropping versatility, and diamond paste is a marked improvement over jeweler's green rouge at an affordable cost.

How I Brought My Gold Band Back to Life with These Diamond Polishing Pastes
When my plain gold band started showing its age with tiny scratches and a lackluster shine, I decided to try a DIY restoration approach before considering professional help. These progressive diamond polishing pastes turned out to be exactly what I needed! The secret to their effectiveness is the sequential application - starting with the coarser grit to tackle those visible scratches, then methodically working through to the finer grits for that mirror-like finish. Each tube required minimal product (literally half a pea-sized amount) on the matching felt pad from the same manufacturer.I spent about 2-3 minutes working each paste in gentle circular motions, and watched in amazement as my plain gold band transformed with each step. The final result was nothing short of spectacular - a brilliant shine that honestly looks better than when I first purchased it.The system is remarkably user-friendly, though it does require patience to work through all the grits properly. But trust me, seeing your treasured gold becoming progressively more brilliant with each stage makes the process surprisingly satisfying. For the price of a single professional cleaning, I now have everything needed for years of jewelry maintenance at home!

Does the job if you do yours...
These polishing pastes are great. I used them to remove scratches from a glassy tile. The consistency is thicker than a toothpaste, and yes, it has an oily odor - other reviewers complained about it, but this is a polishing paste, not a perfume, so it's ok. After rising and buffing, the smell goes away. I started with the 3000, then 5000, and finished with the 14000 grit. Did it by hand using soft clothes. It took about 10-15 minutes of intense polishing with each grit, but the final result was worth it. The scratch is barely noticeable, and the glassy finish is undamaged. It may be quicker and more effective to use an electric polisher machine. Overall, I am happy with it, and would recommend it to my friends.

A great value for polishing chisels and plane blades
For the price, I really was not expecting much out of this diamond paste, as I have spent much more on a single tube, boy was I wrong. I started with the 5000 on a piece of sanded maple plywood. I did not pick one of my good chisels or plane blades that were already polished, instead I picked one that was only lapped on a 600 grit diamond plate. When I saw the result from the 5000, and moved to the 14000. It gave my plane blade a mirror polish and even removed the majority of the deeper scratches.

Not a miracle but it will shine, eventually.
I tried this on a few things. Silverware, my lamp and a spoon fishing lure. The paste does work, eventually. However, don’t expect immediate results. You have to put some work in. More than I care to, unfortunately. It will take several passes to notice a difference. There are no instructions so I just assumed to use the lowest grit and work my way up. Perhaps this was a case of operator error. We will never know without those handy instructions. The paste is a good consistency and does not have a heavy chemical odor. I did not damage anything. So there’s that.Overall, it’s okay as long as your expectations are reasonable and you are not expecting sheer perfection. Be emotionally prepared to rub in a circle for 20 minutes for that shine though.

Lots of polishing paste for high shine finishes
This is a great set for getting a super high polish finish on gemstones, acrylic, lucite and more. The syringes make it easy to dispense exactly the amount needed without wasting the product. It works well for high shine on agate. So I think it would do really well for removing scratches on hard plastics.

Gummy compound
I found the consistency of this compound to be surprisingly gummy. It does not spread easily, which meant that I had to put effort into making sure it was properly distributed on the parts I was lapping. Other than that, it did work, but the formula leaves something to be desired
