They're probably old. COSTCO stopped selling this product over two years ago. They are an original COSTCO-made product.

what is the shelf life if kept in a room temperature area?

These are absolutely delicious. Look for the use by date, this candy doesn’t last more than 2 months for us. I do hope this was a helpful response. Happy Holidays 🎄🎄
