Does it work with #12 solid copper wire?

Just wondering why the spec at the top of the page reads "Tin bonded stranded wire range: #18 - #14 AWG (≤ 19 strand). What am I missing? Thanks.

Both male and female inserts included ?

There is no male and female plugs. The 2 port is to connect (example) black wires and same for white wires. 3 port is to connect 3wires and same for 4 port. These connectors are a better connection than the twist type connectors.

Are these rated for joining aluminium and copper wire?

It is not recommended to join 2 different AWG or different material wires. Please understand your circuit and/or consult certified electrician before the attempt.
