I purchased the Serenity May that has jute in it and I LOVE the mat. It works wonderfully well for yoga; the surface is very non-slip which is great for stability but not abrasive to my skin. The 8mm thickness is fantastic since I have had double hip joint and double knee joint replacements and the extra padding is definitely better on my joints than my thinner mat. I recommend this product to anyone looking for a high quality mat!!

This is a great mat. It’s thick, which is comfy for my aging bones. It’s long too. It’s downright luxurious. While I pride myself on minimalism there are times when a person needs to splurge a little. I am pleased with my purchase. I cannot tell if it is 100% natural materials but I believe it is. It’s just that the latex section sure looks like rubber. If it’s not rubber then this is the perfect mat.

I've had this mat for about six months. I really enjoyed this mat at first. I actually kind of liked the tree fibers and the thickness really helped my sensitive knees. However, recently I've been developing my practice a lot more and notice the friction between my feet and the tree fibers were cutting up my toes. I thought it would be fine if I just flipped the mat over and used the sticky side, but then the mat slides along the floor just a little bit every time you hop in or out of a posture. So thats a little scary when your attempting certain inversions your not quite comfortable with yet. So if your not an everyday yogi, and your not doing anything crazy, then i would definitely suggest this mat.

I absolutely loved this mat!!! It was great in heat as jute on it prevented me from slipping! It was thick but not too heavy to carry around. I loved the way it felt as I was practicing. Sadly I left it at the studio one day last month and have not found it since - I hope I can find another mat just like it!

This is the second of these mats that we have bought. The first one was bought for me, and this one was to replace my wife's mat because she liked mine so much. Initially you can feel the jute fibers, but the loose fibers wear off after a couple of sessions and then it just has good grip without the rope feeling. The mat provides plenty of cushioning and has good grip. Would definitely buy another.

I tried this mat for the first time yesterday on a polished concrete patio. It didn't slip, the jute side has a nice texture providing good traction without being too sticky, and it didn't smell rubbery like some other mats. I also thought that it provided a good amount of padding so I was actually quite comfortable for an hour on a concrete surface.

I have been slipping and sliding on yoga mats and towels for years.... especially during hot yoga. I had the opportunity to attend a yoga class in Canggu while visiting Bali and they had jute mats.... what a novel idea! Upon my return I set out to find one on Amazon. I wanted a blue mat, but Amazon only offered the purple. I ended up reaching out to the company selling the Sala Tree Jute Mat and he was beyond helpful, very personable and very generous. It is not often you get great personal customer service and I was thrilled to be on the receiving end of genuine kindness. They are a husband and wife team, and I will buy from them again! Now to the mats...I waited to write this review until I had some time to use them in different types of yoga practices. Slip and slide no more! They are a great thickness; I find the jute rather therapeutic and I have not experienced the odor mentioned in other reviews. I highly recommend the jute mats and the Sala Tree Company. Neither will disappoint! Namaste!

This is a great mat if you need something thicker. I have knee replacements and most mats are too thin and put too much pressure on my knees. I have also found that thick mats tend to slip during class, this one does not do that --it has truly transformed my practice. I feel more stable, and that has enabled me to explore more poses I hadn't tried with my previous mat.
