Hip and Joint Supplement for Dogs, Glucosamine, MSM & Chondroitin, 120 ct

Our 8 year old Chow/Lab mix Simone began showing symptoms of Hip pain and she began slowing down considerably recently. Her 7 year old brother Nigo, is energetic and they have always rough housed growing up together. We took Simone in for a check up and she was diagnosed with arthritis and or hip dysplasia. We were prescribed a rather pricey medication and after a month, when the medication ran out decided to go a different direction. We heard good things about Vita Pet Life Hip and Joint medication, and thank goodness we decided to give it a shot. After a full three weeks of following the recommended dosage we couldn't be happier. Simone now is able to keep up with her brother and to us appears as energetic as when she was younger. Being a picky eater our method for given Simone her pills is we trim and inch of regular wieners (3) total, microwave them for 15 seconds then cut an X into an end. We then push the pill in, add these to her dry food and she proceeds to clean her bowl. I was not sure what to do. The vet's products were not working and he really did not like the flavor of the chew. So, like I always do, I check Amazon and read reviews and stumbled upon this product. I ordered it and it was delivered. I was worried the tablet was going to be too hard, but it was not at all. He loved it and thinks it's a snack whenever he hears or sees the bottle. Within 2 weeks of taking the tablets, his limp on both back legs went away. He even runs again. We try to limit it so he does not hurt himself. But we are now on month 2 and all is still well. He should be able to go back to the dog park by the Summer. I absolutely love this product and recommend it.

Honestly, I feel like it works so far. It's my dogs first bottle. I'm used to giving her cosequin (with msm& ha in it). Which worked for her, but this product has more quantity in it. So I gave it a try and so far it seems to work. I'd be honest,I don't care for the smell too much,but my dog doesn't seem to mind and she eats it. She stopped limping, and doesn't seem to be in pain anymore. Will buy again.

June 2020 update: Continue to have good results with this Hip & Joint formulation. Kiva does a slow-but-steady twice around the park once a day and she looks forward to her morning pill. When my 12 yr old Heeler was diagnosed with minor arthritis, I wanted to find a way to reduce her discomfort without pharmaceutical side effects so I began trying different brands and formulations of "natural" pain relief. I've been using VitaPetLife Hip and Joint for a few weeks and have already noticed my dog exhibits less slowness in getting up, more desire to go for walks, and generally, she has more energy. I've used some other homeopathic remedies including some with curcumin but this is the best response out of 4 different brands over the last 1-2 years. Finally, I was happy to see a good product that was made in America! I haven't looked at all the VPL offerings but my only suggestion would be a soft chew format.

I have a husky we adopted when she was 3/4 years old back in 2010. She had a previous family as she had a chip in her, and she was found but no one came to claim her. She was shipped from Kentucky to Illinois along with other dogs and pups to avoid being euthanized to a local shelter. So we had no history on her or past health. Besides finding out shortly after adoption she had a rare respiratory that caused allergies super bad, in 2015 she randomly tore her knee in one legs. Got surgery and about 1.5 years later, she tore her other knee while running in the yard and stepped on a branch wrong...so I been on and off with supplements because some would give her bathroom issues. Last year (2020) literally over night, she tanked. Went from being happy and movable to we didn't know what was wrong. After 3 vets in one day (it was a Saturday), turned out over night she developed chronic nerve damage in her lower back and arthritis in her hips and knees more then before. So after getting her to her vet and then treating her for the pain, she’s not on continuous pain meds, I been buying Coco and Luna’s Hip and Joint and UTI supplements and it’s helped aid in a lot. And UTI’s was something my husky was alway getting randomly too and we never could figure out why. Visual blade ultrasound and some labs were able to show she had more then we thought, maybe from even before we got her. But since we stated to get the supplements. It’s been noticeable helpful. Even with pain meds aids. I personally mentioned this brand to others. And if I didn’t like it or thought it was doing something, I wouldn’t keep buying it. So hopefully that says something too.

My dogs love this. I purchased specifically for my older dog that seems to be slowing down and having a little trouble getting up. She's an 8 yr old, 100 lb boxer/ lab mix. She is definitely perking up a bit and more playful than she has been in recent months. Movement seems to have gotten easier for her. Excited to see the long term effects. She loves these so much that when I go to take my vitamin in the morning and she hears the bottle she comes running, as does our 2 yr American Alsatian. I did expect "chews" though and these are more of a tablet, but that doesn't seem to be an issue. Both love the flavor and can chew them without any trouble.

UPDATED REVIEW: We purchased this product for our Miniature Schnauzer who had started having problems with his joints/hips after we had been hiking. He has been having two of these a day and one tablet of the Turmeric (same brand) for the past 6 months and they appear to be helping in his discomfort. We have noticed that he is not so 'stiff' and reluctant to move after our hikes and overall is tolerating well. No ill effects noted. He actually looks forward to taking his 'meds' every morning. He is able to jump up again - he was unwilling to do so previously and he is obviously a happier pup! He has little or no pain anymore and we are very pleased with the results. Will continue with what we are doing as they are obviously making a real difference.

I ordered this and the urinary tract medicine from this same company for an older dog who suffers from urinary tract problems and back hip problems. After taking these pills and urinary tract medicine for four days, he was almost completely unable to stand up or move around. I immediately stopped both pills and within 24-48 hours he was back up and moving again. These meds may be good for a younger dog but I recommend checking with your vet, especially if the dog is older. I now have almost two full bottles of medicine that I am afraid to try starting again. The company delivered quickly and the product does have the smell/flavor to entice the dog. Just unable to give a higher rating because I am afraid to use.
