Scales: Mermaids Are Real

Obviously written for a girl's prospective, it was well balanced between the coming of age angsty aspect and the overlayed hunters aspect. No pyrotechnics or chase scenes, just some reasonable prosthetics used in small, appropriate doses.I liked the little twists on mermaid lore, such as turning the sirens' calamitous calls into healing ones.Nice and overall gentle story.

Terrible acting but to be fair...the writing wasn't great either. The poor girl has had her picture completely altered for the cover-image. It was an awkward and slow movie with holes in the plot/filming. I forced myself to finish it hoping it would get better but it definitely didn't. If this is the writers FIRST film then it could have been worse...but I'm glad this was free/included with Prime cause I wouldn't pay to see it and won't recommend it to anyone. I'm almost embarrassed that I watched it at all.

It's not "Mako Mermaids" or "H2O Just add Water" so don't expect anything like either of those series. For a mermaid movie you don't even see one (in a dream/vision) until about half way through and you don't ever see more than 2 or 3 in the water. The mermaid costume isn't quite up to H2O or Mako standards.The "look" of the movie is pretty good but the plot is slow moving, the story itself isn't so bad. More a "girl's" movie than one for boys ("safe" for the girls to watch, their mothers might get bored).This movie was released July 21…where?, and the website advertised it for sale on Amazon even then. I can't remember how I found out about it (probably by searching imdb or Amazon for other mermaid movies/TV series)… I never saw anything in print or on TV.Although a bit slow going overall "Scales" isn't that bad a movie, better than a lot of the Hollywood "stuff". Don't think there's any cursing, none of the mermaids get harmed (the bad guys want a young mermaid as a cure for a boy), maybe one man is killed (it's quick, not messy, might not even be scary) and I'm not completely sure of that.Don't turn off the movie when the credits start, there's a very quick flash of a couple of mermaids and a merman at the very end.In the comments under one of the earliest reviews someone writes about Morgan Freeman being in it, that would be Morgan Fairchild (there's a little bit of a difference between the two).

5 year old daughter thought it was cute. It did have a good plot. I thought the lead child made a strange mermaid and her mother was a bit trashy for a mermaid. Weirdest part was the daughters underwater mermaid call. Wife and I just looked at each other. She IS allowed to watch it because it’s appropriate.

One of the best movies I have ever seen by far, great acting and superb special effects. It was action packed, suspenseful, and even had a comedic relief. The acting in this movie was 10/10. Me and my friend loved watching this movie so much, will watch again in the future! This movie is worth your 4 dollars. By far Jack Dylan Grazers best movie he has ever been in. I definitely recommend watching this with a large group, it will make your night very special.

I saw the trailer for this movie and couldn't wait to see it. Then, I saw all the bad ratings and I was hesitant to buy it. However, this movie is pretty good. It's a cute KIDS movie. The target audience is children and people who like mermaids/ feel good movies. The people who complained, about the lack of mermaids, clearly weren't paying attention to the movie. SPOILER ALERT (Clears up the movie lore)Half breed mermaids spend 3 years on land and 3 years in the water. They CANNOT control it. They literally have a tail for 3 years and legs for 3 years, starting at age 12. They CANNOT switch back and forth between legs and a tail. The mermaids that live on land are either underage or half breed.Pure bred mermaids AREN'T restricted. They can switch back and forth between a tail and legs. Most of them live in the ocean full time.You have to actually pay attention to their conversations. They slowly explain the mer-lore through dialogue.

So bad that I want to sue Amazon. Please skip this immediately and watch the SPECTACULAR H20 and Mako Mermaid series. Everything about this was terrible...the music, storyline, acting, and writing—nothing endearing at all about the daughter mermaid. I did not deserve the one star.

I like meremaids, but this was so badly produced I can't even fathem.Now this stars Elisabeth Rohm?If you want to se her skills, watch "ANGEL"
