For wood, it will read down to 6%. If the wood is below 6%, the display will read 6.0 with a blinking decimal point.

I need probes long enough to penetrate 2 inches of drivat which covers my house. Will the longer probes do that?

The long pins that come with this moisture meter are for a measuring depth of 7/16". Lignomat does have products that come with an external electrode that includes probes that can measure up to 2" into the material. The S-2M package would work or even the S-4P package when purchased with the EL probes which are 7" long probes.

how to change batteries

The battery can be easily exchanged by taking off the back. Remove battery and replace with new battery. We have changed a few things with production so board should no become loose. Everything should stay in place when exchanging battery.
